In the operation of the device, the container is placed with the narrow face 10 .downward and the cup-like receptacle thus formed is filled with the paper cups. The partition 22 will cause these" paper cups to take the correct oblique position so that they are ready to cooperate with theslots 18 for dispensing. After the cups are in place within the container, the operator takes the plate 30 and puts it in place by passing the slots 34 over the studs 25. The plate 30 is then moved toward the bottom of the container by inserting the fingers between the top 21. and the curved edge 32. This brings the studs 25 into the upturned part of the slots so that the plate is thereby secured in position. The attendant next takes the container, with the cups and the plate 30 in position, to the place where the plate 40 has already been secured to the sup port and passes the container into posit-ion by causing the studs 25'to enter the slots 43, which brings the flanges 42 against the inner faces of the flanges 31, and their edges into contact with the junctions between the curved part of the plate and the flanges 31. The operator then pushes the container downward, which causes the studs 25 to enterthe downwardly extending parts of the slots 43 and thus locks the container in position.

lVhen a person from the container, he places his thumb on the thumb piece 15 and the forefinger in the space afforded by the lower cut-away place on the bottom 20, which gives him a firm grip on the lowermost cup, and by pulling it forward, the edgesof the cup emerge through the slots 18, so that, although the large end of the cup moves towards the narrow face of the container, the cup is readily removed. hen the cup has been drawn out, the column of cups above it descend by gravity. This descent. can be watched through the slot 13, and when the supply of cups in the container is nearly exhausted, the attendant will remove the container in order to replenish it, This is done by lifting the container, which causes the studs 25 to come out of the downwardly extending parts of the slots 43. The attendant then pulls the container toward him, which moves the studs25 to the horizontal part of the slots 43 and releases the container from the supporting plate. The container is then placed in a horizontal position, with the narrow face downward, and the plate 30 is moved toward the top of the container. This is done by pressing with the fingers against the curved edge33. The curved character of this edge leaves abundant room for the fingers between this plate and the bottom straight part of the desires to remove a cup 20. This motion brings the studs into the lower parts of the slots 34 and the plate may then be lifted off from the container, the ends of the studs then passing through the slots and then through are in the curved part 30 of the plate. 32 and 33 afford space for the fingers. When the plate has been removed, the cups are replenished in the same way that the first supply of cups were placed in the receptacle.

I am aware that numerous details of construction may be varied through a wide range without departing from the-principles of this invention, and I therefore do not purpose limiting the patent granted otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.

I claim as my invention:

1. A dispenser for flat cups comprising a removable slotted container shaped to fit the cups, a back plate therefor, a slotted supporting plate, and fastening means for holding the back plate on the container and also serving tohold the container and back plate on the supporting plate.

2. A dispenser for flat sector-shaped cups, including a container comprising two wide side faces and a narrow connecting face, a back plate for said container detachably secured between the unconnected edges of said wide side faces, said back plate having curved upper and lower edges whereby space is afiiorded for the operators fingers between the back plate and the ends of the container when removing or replacing said back plate.

3. A dispenser for paper cups comprising a container having two wide side faces and a narrow face connecting them at the front, rearwardly extending flanges at the, rear edges of said wide side faces, a back .plate for said. container proper comprising a curved central portion and two side flanges adapted to fit the inner faces of the two flanges of said container, fastening means those portions which extending through the container flanges, the plate having slots adapt flanges of said back ed to cooperate with said fastening means for retaining the back plate in place, and a supporting plate having a flat central portion adapted to be secured to a support and two side flanges adapted to contact the inner faces of the back plate flanges, said supporting plate flanges having slots therein adapted to cooperate with said fastening means for securing the container on said supporting plate. 7

4.- In a dispenser of the class described the combination with a receptacle, of a back plate therefor having a bayonet slot, a supporting plate therefor having a bayonet slot, the closed ends of said bayonet slots beingv directed in opposite directions, and a stud adapted to be sure plates havlng slots therein,

on said receptacle adapted to cooperate With both of said bayonet slots.

5'. A paper cup dispenser comprising a slotted receptacle, a pair of interfitting cloand studs mounted on said receptacle adapted to en; gage in the slots of said closure plates to hold the receptacle and plates connected together.

6. A dispenser for paper cups comprismg a receptacle having separated slght slots and a pair of inclined cup outlet slots therei in, and a pair of interfitting plates for mounting the receptacle in place and closing the back thereof.
