A still further object of theinvention is to provide a device of this character in which th'e legs of the doll may-be moved to horizontalposition to allow the doll to as-- sume azsitting'position, when this is deslred,
and to provide means wher'ebythe balancing element may be readily removed from the doll when the doll is to assume the sitting position A further object of the" invention is to provide in combination a walking doll and a sulky or similar implement which the doll pushes while walking, the sulky acting to steady the doll and balance the same and likewise acting to relieve the legs'of the doll of a 'portion of the weight of the body and -of the operating mechanism whereby the walking action is effected.
These and other objects I attain by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention and wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation partially broken away of a doll constructed in accord ance with my invention;

Figure 5 is a detail sectional view showing the construction of the sulky whereby a portion of the Weight of the doll is counterbalanced.
Referring now more particularly to the drawings; the numeral 10 generally designates the body of a doll within" which is arranged a. framework including upper and lower-substantially oval frame-members 11 and 12 andvertical side frame members 13 connecting the frame members 11 and 12 and pitoviding'a support for the mechanism, hereinafter to-bedescribed.
Means for. attaching the upper and lower ends of :the .sidez'iframe .members 13 to the frame members 11 and 12 includes bolts 14. About. thel bolts -'intermediate the side Irame members 13 are -arranged spaoers 15 forholding the'frame in properly spaced relation. Thexupper an'dilower frame memher-S 11 and'12 provide'zmeans'forattaching themechanismto the body of the doll. Rotatably mountedin the si'de frame members 131is a transversely" extending-shaft 16,
one end of which projects to one side of the frame members and is provided with a squared end 17 for the reception of a crank whereby it may be rotated. This shaft has secured thereto one end of a clock spring 18, the opposite end of which is attached to the upper bolt-14 connecting the frame members 11'and-13-.w-Secured to the shaft is a ratchet disk'19 having engaged therewith a pawl 20 carried by a drive-gear 21. This drivegear 21vmeshes with a pinion 22 secured to a shaft 23 mounted in the side frame members 13 and having its ends projected therebeyond and formed with cranks 24. The shaft 23' has secured thereto a gear wheelr25 which meshes with a pinion 26 upon 'a shaft 27*rotatably mounted between the lower ends of the side frame members 13. This shaft adjacent one of the frame members is provided with a pivot 28 upon which is mounted a governor element 29 including a tail 30 which is normally in slightly spaced relation to the adjacent side member 13. This tail is held in this normal position by a spring 31. When the weight 32 of the governor moves outwardly to a predetermined extent from the shaft against the action of the spring 31, the tail 30 comes into engagement with the adjacent side member 13, applying a braking effect to the shaft 27 and accordingly to the entire mechanism. The shaft 27 is further provided with a fly wheel 33 having associated therewith a braking element 34 which is operable from the exterior of the body of the doll, as at 35, to move against the pe- Ill] riphery of the fly Wheel and check-motion of the mechanism.
