To all whom it may Be it known that I, \Vonc Anion, a Cltlf zen of China, residing at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented new and useful Improvements in Figure Toys, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in toys and particularly to a toy simulating a drummer boy containing mechanism for operating the drum sticks.

An object of the invention is to provide a toy having supporting legs mounting the operating mechanism wi hin the' body of the toy carried by the supporting legs for firmly supporting said mechanism during its operation.

A further object of the invention resides providing a novel connection between the operating mechanism and the arms of the toy for moving the arms to operate the drum sticks carried thereby to produce a drumming movement on the drum carried by the body.

Another object of the invention is to provide a special means for controlling and governing the operation of the motor and the arms.

The invention includes other objects and improvements in the details of COIlSlZIllCtlOD which are pointed out in the following description and claim and shown in the accompanying drawing in which;

tions as clearly illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. A crank shaft 8 is rotatably mounted in the upper end of the jacket 6 and beyondthe jacket is bent to form the arms of the figure as indicated at 9. This oscillating memher is provided with a pair of pawls 27 adapted for cooperation with an escapement wheel 28 to alternately engage the teeth of I said escapement wheel which is mounted on shaft 18 for governing the rotative movement of said'shaft in a well known manner.

The jacket 6 is preferably formed in sections to enable assemblage'of the parts and is'provided at '29 with openings to receive lugs 30 which are bent over as indicated in Figure 3 to secure the jacket sections to the frame .5 in assembled relation. The head of the figure indicated at 31 is secured to the upper end of the body as indicated in Figure 1. j

By tensioning the spring through the operation of the key 32 mounted n the frame 5 and projecting through the jacket as clearly shown in Figure 1 the motor mechanism may be set in operation to produce an oscillating movement, of the arms upand down for operating the drum and thereby simulate adrummer The movement of 'he drumsticks and hm db to strike the drum sticks to it relative to the arms compensates for any inaccuracies in the oscillating movement of the arms so that the sticks will strike the drum in every oscillation of the arms. The weighted oscillating member prevents a too rapid oscillation of the arms which would interfere with the proper .drumming movement.
