My invention relates to scarifying devices. An object is to provide a device of this character which may embody any desired number ofsupporting arms adapted to be secured to the frame. of a road grader and with detachable points secured to the lower ends of the supporting arms. An object, in particular, is to provide means whereby the points will be securely held in place on the supporting arms, and when worn so as to be no longer serviceable may be readily detached from the supporting arms and replaced by new points.
The full objects and advantages of my invention will appear in connection with the detailed description thereof, and the novel features embodied in my inventive idea will be particularly pointed out in the claims.

Fig. 4 is a view 1n section on the line 44 of Fig. 2. Fig. 5 is a front elevational view of the lower portion of the supporting arm. Fig. 6 is a view in section on the line 6- 6 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the construction shown in the drawings, the numeral 10 designates one of the supporting arms any desired number of which may be secured to a road grader frame, in any suitable manner. As shown in Fig. 1, the lower portion of the arm curves forwardly and is so shaped that at the front end, it has a lower horizontal surface 12, and an upper inclined surface 14. As will be understood from Fig. 5 particularly, the lower end of the arm 10 on its front side is provided with a tapered recess 16. which is rectangular in cross section. From the end of the recess 16 a horizontal hole 18 extends rearwardly thru the bottom portion of the arm 10, and this hole passes thru a boss 20 formed on the rear of vthe arm and having a vertical surface 22. A detachable point 24is arranged to cooperate with the lower end of the arm 10. This point is wedge-shaped and when in position on the arm has a lower surface 26 which extends horizontally and an upper surface 28 which is inclined. The lower surface 26, is continued rearwardly to form a projection 30 while the upper surface 28 is continued to forman inclined projection 32. The projection 30 fits overthe horizontal surface 12 while the projection 32 fits over the inclined surface 14. Between the projections 30 and 32 a tapered rectangular rojection 34 extends rearwardly from the dy of the goint, this tapered projection being adapts to fit into the tapered recess 16 in the manner best shown in Figs. 2 and 6. .The tapered projection 34 is provided 'with a recess 35-pr0duced by' making its --middle portion in the form of a U-shaped web 36 as shown in Fig. 3, which connects the bodyportion of the point with an end portion 38 also of U shape but having a smaller recess 40 therein as shown in Fig.
4. In order to hold the point in place "a bolt'42 is employed. The head 44 of this bolt is placed in the recess 35 with the bolt extending thruthe recess 40. The point is slid upon the end of the arm 10 with the bolt 42 passing thru the horizontal hole therein. A nut 46 is then screwed upon the threaded end of the bolt so as to engage the vertical surface of the boss 20. The point is in this'manner securely held upon the arm 10, and when worn may be readily detached by removing the nut 46 and fore ing the point off the end of the arm whereupon the bolt 42 may be taken off the worn point and used for securing a new point.
I claim 1. A scarifying device'comprising an arm having a forwardly extending lower end,
said end having a recess in its forward portion from which a hole extends rearwardly, said recess being angular in cross section, a wedge shaped point, a projection on said point fitting snugly into said recess, a bolt" connected with said point extending rearwardly thru said hole, and securing'means on the rear end of said bolt.
2. A scarifying device comprising an arm having which is horizontal on its lower face and inclined on its upper face, saidend having a recess in its forward portion from which a hole extends rearwardly, a wedge shaped point, a projection at the lower side of said a forwardly extending lower end,
point fitting over said horizontal face, a
projection-at the upper side of saidpoint fitting over said inclined face, a projection on said point between said previously men-. tioned projections fitting into said recess, a
' means on the rear end of said bolt.
3. A scarifying device comprising an arm having a forwardly extending lower end, said end having a recess in its forward portion from which a hole extends rearwardly,
a wedge shaped point, a projection on said point fitting into said recess, said projection having a U-shaped web portion forming a recess and a U-shaped end portion forming a smaller recess, a bolt having its head adapted to fit into the recess formed by said web portion with the shank of said bolt extendmg thru said smaller recess and thru 'said hole, and a nut threaded on the rear end of said bolt.
4. A scarifying device comprising an arm having a forwardly extending lower end, said end having a recess in its forward portion from which a hole extends rearwardly, said recess being angular in cross section, a boss on the rear of said lower end having a vertical surface which surrounds the rear end of said hole, a wedge shaped point, a
extending rearwardly thru said hole, and a nut threaded on the rear end of said bolt into engagement with said vertical surface.
5. A scarifying device comprising an arm having a forwardly extending lower end, said end having a recess in its forward portion from which a hole extends rearwardly, said recess beingangular in cross section, a wedge-shaped point, a projection on said point fitting snugly into said recess, the rear portion of said projection containing a small open-sided recess and the intermediate por- 1 tion of said projection containing a larger open-sided recess, a bolt whose head fits into said large-recess and whose shank extends rearwardly through said small "recess and through said hole, and securing means on the rear end of said bolt.
