This invention relates to looms of the Jacquard type and particularly to means for movino' and positioning the heddle cord lifter board or comhcr board in such looms.

llith this general object in View, our invcrtion in its preferrec form includes the pr vision of a lifting frame for a coinher hoard, together with means for giving the board or portions thereof a more limited movement than the movement of the lifting frame itself.
Our invention further relates to arrangements and combinations of parts which will he hereinafter described and. more particularl pointed out in the appemfled claims.

Referring particularly to Fig. 1, we have indicated parts of a loom of a usual commercial type, including a loom frame 10. a lay 11 mounted on swords 12, a reed 13, a crankshaft 1 f, toggle members 15 for oscillating the lay. harnesses 16 for the binder warps B and B and for the stuffer warp fl, and the usual heddle cords 17 for the pile warps P. A bottom or cam shaft 18 carries cams l9 engaging cam levers 20 which are connected through rods or links to lifter lever 22. In other words. the pivoted connection between the board holder 36 and the frame h 34. together with the use of the stop 3S and .1, permits a certain definite amount of lost motion for one edge portion of the hoard eiative to the frame.

By adjusting the screws 38 and 41 the exact angle at either end of the path of movement may be varied and adjusted as desired. It will be understood that the shed opening is increased or decreased by decreasing or increasing the amount of lost motion for the comber board, and by varying the angle of the comber board, the angle of the corresponding portion of the warp shed may be similarly varied. e are thus able to change either the amount or the angle of shed opening to suit varying conditions of operation.
lVe have thus provided exceedingly simple mechanism in which a lost motion connection is provided between the coinber board and its lifter frame and in which the amount of lost motion and the linal position of the board at both ends of its path of travel may be very conveniently adjusted.
Having thus described our invention and the advantages thereof, we do not wish to be limited to the details herein disclosed otherwise than as set forth in the claims but wha" we claim is 1. In a Jacquard loom, in combination, a shed forming mechanism, a lifter frame positively raised by said mechanism, a comber board mounted on said frame and an gularly movable relatively thereto, means to determine the angle of said board relative to said frame when raised by said frame, and additional means to determine the angle of said board when in lowered position.
2. In a Jacquard loom, in combination, a shed forming mechanism, a litter frame positively raised by said mechanism, a comber board mounted on said frame and angularly movable relatively thereto, neans to adjustthe angle of said board relative to said frame when raised by said frame, and additional means to adjust the angle to said board when in lowered position.
3. In a Jacquard loom, in combination, a shed forming mechanism, a lifter frame positively raised by said mechanism, a comber board mounted on said frame and angularly movable relatively thereto, stops on said frame to engage and angularly position said board as the frame is raised, and additional fixed stops to engage and angularly position said board when said board is in lowered position.
4. In a Jacquard loom, in combination, a stand, a frame vertically movable on said stand, a comber board, and connections be tween said board and frame to permit lost motion of one edge portion of'said board relative to said frame as said board is raised thereby.
5. In a Jacquard loom, in combination, a stand, a frame vertically movable on said stand, a comber board, positive connections between one edge portion of said board and said frame, and a lost motion connection between the other edge portion of said board and said frame, whereby the angle of said board relative to said frame will be varied within the verticalmovement thereof.
6. .ln a Jacquard loom, in combination, a stand, an upper lifter frame, a lower lifter frame, a comber board movably mounted in said lower frame, means to positively move said frames, and means to limit movement of said comber board with said lower frame.
7. In a Jacquard loom, in combination, a stand, an upper lifter frame, a lower lifter frame, a comber board movably mounted in said lower frame, means to give said upper lifter frame a positive combined vertical and angular movement, means to give said lower frame a positive vertical movement, and means to change the angular relation of said comber board to said lower frame.
8. In Jacquard loom, in combination, a stand, an upper lifter frame, a lower lifter frame, a comber board movably mounted in said lower frame, and a single operating means effective to give said upper lifter frame a combined vertical and angular movement, and said lower frame a vertical movement of reduced amount.
9. In a Jacquard loom, a stand, a comber board angularly movable with respect to the stand, means to raise and lower the comber board, and stops cooperating with the comber board determine the angular position thereof relatively to the stand as said comber board is raised and lowered by said means.
10. In a Jacquard loom, a stand, a comber board angularly movable with respect to the stand, means to raise and lower the comber board, a movable stop to be operatively related to the comber board when the latter is raised to determine the angular position thereof relatively to the stand, and a fixed stop to be operatively related to the comber board when the latter is lowered by said means to determine the angular position thereof relatively to the stand.
11. In a Jacquard loom, a stand, a comber board angularly movable with respect to the stand, means to raise and lower the comber board, a movable stop to be operatively related to the comber board when the latter moves in one direction to determine one angular position thereof relatively to the stand, and a fixed stop to be operatively related to the comber board when the latter moves in the opposite direction to determine another angular position thereof relatively to the stand.
