LOOM.
Application led September y19, 1925, Serial No. 57,285, and in Germany December 17, 192e.
Warp beams for looms are commonly provided in the peripheral surface with ar' longitudinal groove or depression to receive the knotted ends of the Warp so that such knotted ends shall notV protrude beyond the peripheral surfaceoi the beain a nd destroy the true ejvlindrioity of the mass or" Warp when Wound on the beam. For the saine general purpose it is vdesirable vto provide a covering plate, curved uponthe cylindrieity oit the benin as a support for the Warps. In accordance with the inven- `tion the curved Covering plate is secured to the cloth which is .itself secured to the Warp beain and at its other edge has the knotted ends of the Warps secured to it, sothat in the beginning of the Winding operation, :is
the attaching cloth is Wound Von the-beam,`
the curved covering yplate `carried bv it is placed over the groove in the beam, thereby preserving the true eylindricity o' the support on which the Warps are Wound. The invention will be more fully described here inafter with reference to the accompanying "vdigiwing in which it is illustrated and in which: y
Figure l. is a. top view showingrr a Wrap beam, the attaching' oloth and the rvarp ends. Figure 2 is aview in section ot thel eine on a` plane at right angles to the axis of the beam.
Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2 but showingthe` attaching` Wound onthe beam;
`The,Warp beam n is flattened and grooved.
cloth Vand Warps cured to the ettaching cloth f isa covering meinbere, 1n'eterably a nietal plate, curved 'upon the saine radius :is thatot' the Warp beam and pinperlvl positioned so that, when the attachingfcloth is Wound .upon the beain, as iudieeted in Figure 8, the covering member will be placed with its edges resting against the marginal portions of the lattened face of Vthe Warp beani and thereby rcover `the groove and the knotted ends of the Warp threads and complete the curved peripheral surf-acc uponthe saine radius as that of the beam, preservingthe truly cylindrical forni ot the support for the Warp threads which are Wound on the beam over the attaching cloth and the covering' member.
' l claini as niv invention:
The combination,with :i Warp beam havingy in its peripheral lsurface a longitudinal groove ,for the reception of thevknotted ends of the Warp threads, Otan attaching cloth secured tothe Warp beaniand having' the ends of the Warp threads secured to it, and an independent coveringnieinl'ei curved upon the saine radius as that of the w rp beam and secured to the attachingeloth inr vposition to cover thegroove in the beam as the cloth 1s Wound thereon, together with the knotted endsfof the vwarp threads, and therebjr preserve the true'cylindricity of the support; for the Warp threads.;v
