This invention relates to waterl elevating apparatus and particularly `to that type wherein water is subjected tol pressure as the lifting medium. i
An object of the invention-is to provide simple and efficient means for creating a vacuum or partial vacuumk toz-be' used for lifting the waterwhich is subjected to atmospheric pressure.
Another* object of the vinvention is the provision of a-vacuum creating Vmeans combinedl with a water holding tank and. fur-l ther combined with means forv controlling the Vacuum creating means ,pthe water outlet valve mechanism and the vacuum destroying means.. j f

As illustrated in the accompanying drawings the apparatus includes a pressure yand water tank 2 within vwhich is created the vacuuml ork partial vacuum and through which the water is elevated from a well or cistern. The tank is preferably of metal and is 4made air tight `under the water elevating action of the apparatus. The tank is provided atvits'top wall gwith a hand opening 6v which lis normallyl closed by a Iplate 8 secured in position by said screws or bolts 97 the joint being suitably kpacked by a gasket ofusual form. j

A pair of chains or cables 34'are `connected at. their upper ends with the vouter extremities of'a valve rocker arm 35 and attheir lower ends with'the iloat arm '28 on opposite sides of thepivot 29 las at 36 and 3S. The arrangement is such that when the float is in anelevated'positionthe supply of the gas to the burner nozzle will be sub-` stantially vcut olfV due to the closing of the valve and when the float moves ltoY a lower position the valve is opened partially to permit vigorous `burning ofthe gas lat the nozzle. As the gas 1s burned at the nozzle the oxygen in theair contained within ,the tank 2 is consumed and thus a vacuum orpartial` vacuum is created within the tank 2.
For the purpose of automatically and periodically discharging the water which has been `drawninto the tank 2 and simultaneously destroying the vacuum or `partial vacuum or for maintaining the vacuum and ice shutting ofi' the eXit of water from the tank,
