TRUSS PAD.

This invention relates to truss pads, and the leading object of the present invention is to provide an arrangement, connection, and construction of parts to provide a truss pad possessed of sanitary characteristics and one in which the resisting of dirt and perspiration is provided for.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a truss pad construction which is more comfortable to the wearer particularly in the avoidance of chafing.

A further object resides in the providing of a truss pad of neat appearance and of simple, durable, and relatively inexpensive construction. Other and further objects reside in the provision of general arrangements and constructions and connections of parts for attaining the results sought by the foregoing objects.

The invention consists of the novel construction hereinafter described and finally claimed.

The nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more fully understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, and in which:

Fig. 3, is a View in central section of the parts shown in Fig. 2.

For the purpose of illustrating my inven tion I have shown in the accompanying drawings one form thereof which is at present preferred by me, since the same has been found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results, although it is to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which my invention consists can be variously arranged and organized and that my invention is not limited to the precise arrangement and organization of the instrumentalities as r herein shown and described.

Referring to the drawings and more particularly to Fig. 3, the numeral 1 designates a truss pad of any desired material and of conventional form. Stitched to the pad 1 as 50 at 2 is a leg strap 3 of suitable fabric and preferably possessed of non-stretchable characteristics. The numeral 4 designates the pouch for the pad 1, which pouch is made of soft rubber. Secured to the pouch 4 is a tube of soft rubber 5 through which tube 5 the leg strap 3 is projected. The pouch 4 and tube 5 are usually secured together by vulcanizing the same as indicated at 6 in the drawing. T he free end of the leg strap 3 is secured thereto by stitching as at 7 an attachmentstrap 8.

By the above arrangement and construction of parts a truss pad is provided in which the means of attachment between the pad 1 and the leg strap 3 is concealed by the combined rubber pouch and tube 5. Thus not only is a better appearing article provided but the device is more comfortable to the wearer because there are no rough edges to cause chafing. The pouch and tube 5 also being of rubber provides a device which does not soil readily and which is possessed of perspiration resisting characteristics. The above described construction is easy to make and is comparatively inexpensive in cost so that a much better truss pad than at present used can be provided at little or no additional cost.

It will now be apparent that I have devised a novel and useful construction which so embodies the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description and while I have in the present instance shown and described the preferred embodiment thereof 35 which has been found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results, it is to be understood that the same is susceptible of modification in various particulars without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

An article of the character stated, comprising a pad, a leg strap secured directly to the smaller end of said pad, a rubber pouch entirely covering said pad, an outer tubular, soft rubber extension through which said leg straps extend, said extension being vulcanized to the smaller end of said pouch and said tubular extension being shorter than said leg strap and an attachment strap secured to the free end of said leg strap.
