UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
' ALBERT n. GABDELLA, or CLEVELAND, onro.
rnncom'ron ror nommn.
Application filed Hay 15, 19M, Serial To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I ALBERT B. GARDELLA, a citizen of the United tates, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Percolator-Top Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a percolator top holder having for an object to provide means for reliably retaining the usual glass top in position upon a percolator lid.
It is likewise an object to provide a simple and inexpensive holder which may be easily attached for functioning.
Other objects will be in part obvious and in part pointed out hereinafter.
In order that the invention and its mode of operation may bereadily understoodby persons skilled 'lnjlie art, I have in the accompanying illustrative drawings, and in the following detailed description based thereon set out one-possible embodiment of I the same.
In these drawings.
Figure 1, is a side elevation of the upper portion of a percolator showing the holder applied thereto;
Figure 2, is a detail vertical sectional view, showing the application of the holder;
Figure 3 is a plan view of the holder applied to a percolator;
Figure 4 is a detail perspective view of a portion of the holder, and
Figure 5 is a detail perspective view of Having particular reference to the drawings throughout which similar characters of reference designate similar parts, this improved holder may be stated as comprising a single strip of polished aluminum or the This strip is widened at its centhe legs or arms 6 extending like metal. tral portion 5, from each end terminating in fingers 7 formed through slitting the extremities longitudinally. These fingers are preferably, though not necessarily, three in number, the two outer ones bein adapted for bending outwardly 'to snug y engage the underside of the metal lid L of the percolator. The intermediate finger is preferably bent inwardly under the v T and together with the other fingers serves to reliably connect the glass top and the usual metal lid L. Obviously this holder is shaped to snugly 'percolator including a opening and a glass. top of the widened portion and No. 713,541. Renewed March 1, 19 26.
conform to the surface of the glass top T. The widened central portion is provided with an opening 8 in which'the usual glass knob K is received.
While this holder maybe applied to glass tops of the usual construction, I provide the top with a'pair of diametrically opposednotches N in its rim and cut away rtions of the rib as shown, ing a snug fit of the holder and top at all lnts and a normal relative positioning of the to within the metal lid.
In igure 4, I have shown my holder as made up of wire and including a pair of outwardly as made up of wire and including a :pair of outwardly bent fingers engageable with the under side of the usual lid.
Minor changes in certain details of 'construction ma' be resorted to and suchof these changes as may fall within the'scope of the appended claims, I consider within the spirit of my invention.
1 claim:
1. The combination with the cover of a percolator including a lid having a central opening and a glass to for the opening; of a holdercomprising a dy portion extends ing over the glass top, and fingers carried by the bodyportion and the lid to connect the top and lid.
'2. The combination with the cover of a lid having a central opening and a glass to for the opening; of a holder comprising a l) ing over the glass top and between the top and lid, fingers formed at each end of the holder and adapted to be bent in opposite directions to engage the under side of the lid and rim of the glass top.
3.. The combinatlon'with a cover of apercolator including a lid having a central for. the openpreferably engageable beneaththereby allowin of a holder com risin a sheet lnetal strlp having a central opening to receive the glass top knob, arms included in said strip and extending downwardly over the glass top and between the top and lid. a set of longitudinal fingers formed at t1 e outer end' of each arm, alternate fingers bl.- ing bent iii opposite directions to engage the rim of the glass top and the under side of the lid.
In testimony whereof, I ailix my signature.
ALBERT B. GARDELLA.
