Be it known that 1 CYRUS F. JENNINGS,

a Ycitizen of the United States, residing at lVinona, in the county of lVinona and State of Minnesota, have invented new and useful Improvements in Folding Tables, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in vfolding tables and contemplates `pairs of cross legs having bars secured within notches provided in the upper free ends of the legs and which include upon their outer sides a plurality of substantially L-,shaped hooks which areadapted to be received within eyelets provided in the opposite ends of a cloth top arranged between the top bars in order that an infant may be placed upon this cloth top while washing or dressing.

Another object of my invention is the provision of a pair of Offset hars Asecured to the outer sides of the legs and which extend upwardly therefrom and which include a pair of frame supports secured thereon having cross bars lsecured to the inner sides thereof for preventing the infant from falling from the cloth top and one of the cross bars has arranged upon the outer side thereof ar shelf in order that articles used in washing and dressing the infant may be lplaced thereon.

A further object vof my invention is the provision of ashelf supported by a pair of bars having their upper ends secured to the inner sides ot the legs and which shelf has its inner end received upon the pivot pin extending between the inner sides of the supporting legs.

lith the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features 4and details of construction, Vto be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out inthe appended claims.

Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference character 10 indicates a pair of supporting legs being arranged in cross relatiOIl and having a. pivot bar-1 1 extending through the inner sections of the legs 10 when so arranged in their cross relation in order that these legs 10 may he readily and easily folded and extended upon the pivot bar 11. Each of the legs 10 has extending transversely or later ally upon their outer sides as braces 12 extending transversely upon and secured to their outer sides while a plurality of lcross braces 13, 14C and 15 respectively are arranged upon the opposite and outer sides of the legs 10 in order that their ends will be held rigidly in their respective positions and hold the saine against canting and sagging.

The upper ends of the supporting legs 10 have angular notches 16 therein for the reception of cross section substantially rectangular ytop bars 17 therein which include fastening elements in the form of nails 18 and the like for preventing their accidental displacement when so inserted or positioned within the angular notches 16. Arranged at spaced intervals along the top kof the 'top rails 17 is a plurality of substantially elongated hooks 19 which have their transverse portions extending outwardly and .downwardly therefrom and which are adapted to receive eyelets arranged at corresponding spaced intervals along the length of the edges of a cloth top 21 and which further includes rods 22 stitched or otherwise arranged without the outer edges ofthe cloth top in order that the operator when so as- Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view tali'en sembling this table will grasp the cloth surrounding the rods 22 and in so doing pull the cloth top outwardly in order to bring the eyelets 20 into registration with and hook the same upon the transverse portions of the substantially L-shaped hooks 19. A pair of relatively flat bars 23 have their upper free ends pivotally secured to the inner sides of the inner pair of supporting legs 10 While their lower free ends are pivoted to the outer sides of a pair of supporting bars 24: having semi-circular cut out portions 25 provided upon the outer sides and adjacent the inner` end thereof and which are adapted to rest upon the upper side of the pivot rod or bar 11 and Which further includes a plurality of transverse strips 26 upon the upper sides of the supporting bars 24, and thus forming a shelf beneath the cloth top 21. Pairs of offset bars 27 have the inner sides of their offset portions secured tothe outer sides of the supporting legs and adjacent 'their outer ends While their vertical portions extend upwardly and above the level of the cloth top 21` While pivotally secured to their upper ends is a pair of companionrbars 28 having cross strips 29 arranged upon their inner sides, VWhileone of the strips 29 has secured to its underside a relatively flat platform 3 0 having an upstanding outer edge 31 and thus providing a secondary shelf.

In the inode of operation of the present invention is is clearly apparent and manir fest that owing to the pivotal association of the supporting legs 10 upon the pivot rod or bar 11 that the same may be readily and easily expanded or folded as clearly illustrated in the positions shown in Figures 1 and 4:, respectively, that owing to the positioning of the cross section substantially rectangular shaped top bars 17 When so arranged Within the angular slots 16 provided in the upper free ends of the supporting legs 10 which include the substantially L-shaped hooks 19 therein Which receive thereon the eyelets 2O provided in the outer edges of the cloth top 21 Will give all of the stress so exercised upon the top bars 17 upon the supporting legs 10 when an infant is placed upon the cloth top 21. Having thus described my invention what is claimed is: j

1. A folding table of the character described comprising pairs of cross supporting legs having a pivot barl extending through their intersections, the upper' ends of the cross supporting legs including angular notches therein, a pair of rectangular top rails received Within the angular slots and secured to the supporting legs, a plurality of substantially L-shaped hooks arranged at spaced intervals upon the upper sides of the top rails, a cross top having a plurality of eyelets arranged at corresponding distances along its outer edges and received upon their companion hooks, a pair of rods stitched Within the outer edges of the cloth top, pairs of offset bars having their angular portions secured to the outer sides and adjacent the upper ends of the supporting legs, companion bars having their lower ends pivoted to the upper ends of the offset intervals upon the upper sides of the top` rails, a cloth top having a plurality of eyelets arranged at corresponding ldistances thereon and adapted to be received upon its companion hook, a pair of rods being stitched within the outeredges of the cloth top, pairs of offset bars having` their angular portions secured to the outer sides and adjacent the upper ends of the supporting legs. pairs of companion bars pivotally secured to the upper free endsv of the offset bars and including cross bars upon their inner sides, a platform extending outwardly from one of the cross bars, a pair of relatively flat bars having their upper ends Secured to the inner sides of a pair of supporting legs, a pair of supporting rods having their outer ends secured to the lower free ends of the relatively flat bars and including semi-circular cutout portions upon their under sides und adjacent their inner ends and received upon the upper sides of the pivot bar, and a. plurality of cross strips arranged upon the upper sides of the supporting rods.
