IMPROVEMENT IN HOG-HOLDlNG IMPLEMENTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 158,274, dated December 29, 1874; application filed August 4, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, ANDREW L. HILL, of Decatur, in the county of Macon and in the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hog-Holder; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a device for holding hogs While putting rings through their snouts, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to de scribe its construction and operation, referformed the loop or nose ring 0, which is to go around the hogs nose or snout to hold the same up While putting a ring through it. B represents a crutch, the stem of which is screwed into the stem A near the base of the crutch C to support the lower jaw, and keep the mouth of the hog closed. This crutch D may or may not be used, as desired.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters'Patent, is-
1. The hog-holder herein described, consisting of the stem A, handle B, and loop or nose ring 0, all substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
2. The crutch D, in combination with the loop C and stem A, as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 7th day of July, 1874..
