in the countyof Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and useful. Improvements 1n Overhead Feed and'Vent Wash Fountains, of which the following is I a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which are a part of this specification. I
This invention relates to. improvements in overhead feed and vent washfountains.
Sanitary washfountains now in general usepermit a number of persons to wash at the same time, and to accomplish this, a circular basin or receptacle of comparatively large diameter, is provided with a circular fountain which discharges a circular spray of water into the receptacle. In fountains of this type, the vent and the water supply pipes usually extend downwardly through the floorand then to a point open to the outside atmosphere. In many buildings, the
washfountains are placed in the basement,
or on a cement floor, and it isimpractical to extend the pipes downwardly without tearing up the floor; In some places it is possible to lay the vent pipe in the floor or ground, and incases of this kind and when it can be done conveniently, the water supply only is taken from above.
It'isone of the objects of the present in .vention to overcome the before mentioned objectionable features and provide a wash fountain inwhich thevent pipe can be extended. upwardly from the waste trap in some positions of use, to permit the free flow and discharge of the sewer gases upwardly.
A further object'of. the invention is to provide a washfountain in which the supply of water may also be from an overhead source and the flow directed in a manner to prevent splashing when discharged from the fountain for use. I V r A further object of the invention is to provide a washfountain construction in which the spraying'port-ion thereof is supported 7 by means independent of the vent pipe and the water'supply pipes.
A further object of the invention is to provide an overhead feed'and vent washfountain which is of simple construction, is
strong and durable and is well adapted for the purpose described.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of the improved overhead feed and vent washfountain andits parts and combinations as set forth in the claims, and all equivalents thereof.
In the accompanying drawing in which the same reference characters indicate the same parts in all of the views:

Referring to the drawing, the numeral 5 indicates a basin or receptacle preferably of annular form, which is supported upon a tubular standard 6. The basin may be of any shape or formed of any suitable material desired. The basin is formed with a strainer and outlet openings 7, and is connected to a discharge coupling 8 mounted centrally beneath the basin. A discharge pipe and trap 9 is connected to the coupling and extends The strainer and downwardly therefrom. outlet openings 7 are formed in the lower end portion of a supporting tube 10 which is connected to the upper-end portion of the discharge coupling 8 and extends upwardly therefrom. A fountain or nozzle head 11 mounted and supported on the upper end of the tube 10, is'of circular form, and is provided with a circular line of downwardly inclined orifices 12 through which the water is sprayed for use. The lower side of the fountain is formed with a groove 11 into which the tube 10 extends to center the fountain on the tubeandto form a more secure connection therewith.
An inner tube 13 is connected to the lower inner portion-of the fountain while an outer tube 14L is connected to the upperinner portion of thefountain and the space 15 between these two tubes forms the water supply duct or pipe for the fountain. The upper end portions of these pipes 13 and 14: are connected, respectively, to the upper and lower walls of anv annular mixing ,and coupling member 16 and form a water tight connection therewith. Hot and cold water supply pipes 17 and 18 having controlling valves 19 and 20 are connected to the opposite sides of the mixing member to supply the water to the fountain. To more completely mix the hot and cold water, the mixing member is formed with an inner annular partition 23 having openings 2% positioned at right angles to the connection of the pipes 17 and 18 to said mixing member. This partition divides the member into an inner and an outer chamber and the inlet pipes are connected to the outer chamber while the duct extends downwardly from the inner chamber. The only means of communication between the inner and outer chambers are the openings 2& before mentioned, and as these openings are at right angles to the openings of the tubes 17 and 18, the water flows in a circuitous path in passing through the mixing member and the two streams will mix so tl1 lt the desired temperature can be obtained.
A liquid soap receptacle 25 having discharge spouts 26 may be formed around the pipes, and a soap dish 27 may be mounted on the pipes if desired.
A vent pipe 28 connected to the trap 9 extends upwardly therefrom through the pipes 10 and 13 to the desired height, and the upper end portion of the mixing member is provided with a stulling nut 29 which surrounds the vent pipe 28 and seals the connection therebetween.
The fountain 11 is positioned a sufficient distance above the basin 5 to provide washing space and also so that the fine streams from the fountain will fall within the basin.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that the supporting tube is of comparatively large diameter for firmly supporting the fountain and other parts and that the vent pipe may extend upwardly and is relieved of all strain and load, and furthermore, the water supply can be received from above the basin.
hat we claim as our invention is:
1. An overhead feed washfountain, comprising a standard having a basin thereon, a supporting tube rising from the basin, a fountain mounted on the supporting tube, a vent pipe extending through the supporting tube and the fountain, and means for supplying water to the fountain.
2. An overhead feed and vent washfountain, comprising a standard having a basin thereon, a supporting tube rising from the basin, a fountain mounted 011 the sup porting tube, a vent pipe extending through the supporting tube and the fountain. other tubes surrounding, the vent pipe and connected to the fountain and forming a water conduit thereto, and valved means for supplying water to the conduit.
3. An overhead feed washfountain comprising a standard having a basin thereon provided with a trap, a supporting tube rising upwardly from the basin and trap and having openings in its lower end portions permitting discharge of water from the basin to the trap, a fountain mounted on the supporting tube, a vent pipe connected to the trap and extending upwardly through the supporting pipe and the fountain, and means for supplying water to the fountain.

An overhead feed and vent washfountain, comprising a standard having a basin thereon provided with a discharge opening and a trap connected to said discharge opening, a supporting tube connected to said discharge opening and rising, upwardly therefrom and having discharge openings in its lower end portion, a vent pipe connected to the trap and extending up wardly through the supporting tube and having a vent opening at its upper end, a fountain mounted on the upper end portion of the supporting tube but beneath the upper end opening of the vent pipe. said fountain having a circular line of discharge openings, other tubes surrounding the vent pipe and connected to the fountain and. forming a water conduit thereto, a mixing member connected to the upper end portions of said other tubes, and valved pipes connected to the mixing member.
(3. An overhead feed and vent washfountain, comprising a standard having a. basin thereon provided with a discharge opening and a trap connected to the basin beneath said opening, a supporting tube connected to said discharge opening and rising upwardly therefrom and having discharge openings in its lower end portions, a vent pipe connected to the trap and extending upwardly through the supporting tube, a fountain mounted on the upper portion of the supporting tube and having a circular line of discharge openings, other tubes surrounding the vent pipe and connected to the fountain and forming a water conduit thereto, a mixing member connected to the upper end portions of said other tubes and having a partition forming an inner and an outer chamber, said partition having an opening between the two chambers, and valved water supply pipes connected to the outer chamber of the mixing member at points offset from the partition opening to form a circuitous path for the flow of water therethrough.
7. A fountain member for mixing hot and cold water, consisting of a casing having an inner partition dividing the casing into two chambers, said partition having openings in communcation with both chambers and said casing having pipe openings offset from the partition openings to form a circuitous path for the flow of water therethrough.
8. An overhead feed Washfountain, comprisinga standard having a basin thereon provided with a discharge opening and a trap connected to said discharge opening, a
supporting tube connected to said discharge opening and rising upwardly therefrom and having discharge openings in its lower end portion, a fountain mounted on the upper end portion of the supporting tube and having a circular line of discharge openings, other tubes surrounding the supporting tube and connected to the fountain. and forming a water conduit thereto, a mixing member connected to the upper end portions of said other tubes, and valved pipes connected to the mixing member.
