new and usefulImprovements inBag Holders, of which the `following is a kspecification. yThe invention relates to'bag hoiders, and has as an object the 'provisiono'if improvements upon the device" disclosed bv the patent giantedto me under date of July 25, 1922, No.1, 42,4\,017. Al'iurther object is the provision ofen improved holder having means for dispensing anvof the usualtypes of bags. A'urther object ofthdinvention is the provision of supportino'- mean'sffor Vsuch bag raclrwhe'rebv a 'pluraity 4of racks may be provided to dispense bagsv of ag pluralty of sizes. j
Illustrative embodiments of the invention are shown in thel accompanying' drawings, in `which f Fig.` 1 shoivsa formV ofstand ivith a plurality of holders thereon; i Fig. 2 is a vertical-section onv line 2, of Fig.1.

Fig. 5 is a vertical section ythrough a modified :torni of holder and support;
In the embodiment of the invention shown inFigs. 1 and 2, a support for holders is shown comprising standards 10 and 'which may desirably be formed of 'pi e. Bases 12, 13 are shown upon the standards which may ber boite-dito the floor'or'eouiiter. `Caps 14, 1,5 are shown which may beiitih'zed Jini securing o 'f Vtheidievice in "the `desired position vinstead 'of the bases 12, bolts passingvt-hi'ough the caps into a ceiling, or

In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 the hooks 28 and are duplicat-ed on the opposite sides of the plate 16 and may desirably be formed from a single. piece of heavy wire passed through the plate and turned upwardly on th-e opposite sides thereof. lVhen so forme-d a series of boxes of the same, or substantially the same, size may be applied. to both sides of the plate. Suiiicient variation between the boxes on opposite sides of the plate is allowable so that the next size, smaller or larger, box may be placed opposite any particular box. The bags upon the opposite side of the plate from the user may be very readily obtained by extending the hand below the plate 16 and reaching up to grasp the edge of the desired bag.
The form of the device shown in Figs. 1 and 2 may be removed by sliding the box upwardly until the holes 29 and 3l are freed from their respective hooks when the box may be pulled away from the plate a suficient distance to allow the strap 27 to be readily removed. The supply of bags in the box may then be replenished after removal of the member 26 by merely laying the bags in the box, when the box may be replaced by reverse movements.
In the form of the device shown in Fig. 4 the guide at the bottom takes the form of a headed plate 32, having a head 33 and a neck 34, the body 35 of the plate is shown as secured to the box by means of a screw 36 passing through the hole 31 in the bottom wall of the box and taking into a threaded hole in the body 35. The guide in the plate 37 is shown in the form of a slot 38 having an enlargement 39 at its top through which the head 83 may be passed in the placing of the box upon the holder.` The plate 37 in this form of the device is preferably formed as a pair of parallel separated plates 37, 39, and when so formed the plate 39 may if desired be also provided with slots 38 so that holders may be applied to the opposite surface of a rack, thus formed. This form of the device is preferably mounted upon a hook 28, as in the form of the device iirst described.
A form of the device for use upon the may be placed upon the hook 42 by entry Y of said hook through the hole 29, with the box depending substantially vertically from the surface 43. lVhen the box is then swungto its position as shown in the figure thewall 24 of the box may be pressed inwardly until it clears the end of the hook 41 when it may be allowed to snap back with the hook 41 engaged in the hole 31.
To press the bags to the front in this form of the device the stra-p 27 is shown as provided with a weight 44, the strap being otherwise the same as provided in the other forms of the invention, and the action of the delivery of bags in this form of the invention is the same as that already described.
The boxes for each of the forms of the invention herein described will be seen to be identical, and may be formed with the openings 29, 31, which openings are utilized in supporting the box in position in various ways. To adopt the form of holder above described for dispensing straight bags which do not have the edge of the folded bottom to be projected as shown at 45, the device illustrated in Fig. 3 is Supplied. In the einbodiment shown herein, this device comprises a false bottom in the form of a plate 46 resting at its rear edge on the bottom of thevbox and at its front edge upon and terminating above, the lip 25. To prevent this plate slipping forwardly, a tongue or tongues 47 may be struck downwardly from the material of the plat-e to lodge behind the portion 23. To retain the lower edges 0f the bags releasably a tongue 48 is provided which projects forwardly from the front edge of the plate 46 and is preferably upwardly curved to retain the ends. The extremity of the tongue is shown 'as recurved downwardly to act as a` thumb piece. By pressure of the side of the thumb upon the thumb piece, the bottom of a bag may be released to be thrown outwar-dlyaby reason of the pressure of bar 26V which bottom may then be grasped and the bag extracted. The tongue 48 is made of resilient material so as to return to retaining position when released.
Minor change-s may be made in the physical embodiment of the invention without departing 'from its spirit.
I claim:
