The position of the slidframe comprising parts 5 and 6, on frame 1, is controlled by lever 34 and cams 36, 37; one of said cams moving said-sliding frame in one direction and the other in the opposite direction, as lever 34 is turned on its fulcrum in one or the other direction.

To operate .the device the lever 34 is turned on its fulcrum into substantially the position illustrated inFig. 3, thereby separatin wheel 27 from roller 32 andcutter 33. If the can is rectangular in cross section, with rounded corners, the device is placed thereon in the manner last above recited, and as illustrated in Fig. 1; and handle 23 is turned on its fulcrum as above set out. The ratchet teeth 28 of wheel 27 will thereupon engage with fold 42, and move the can along to a corner, and will then turn the can and moveit along the next corner of the can; and upon continuous turning of said handle 23 will turn the can around and separate the bottom ofthe can from the walls thereof.
` During the operation of the machine as above described the member 9 of part 5 of the movable frame forms a guard protecting the operator from the cutting Wheel 33. e claim:
