M. SWEET.
Curry-Combs. N0,]57,942, Patented Dec. 22,1874.
imawm. v Ila/4711578 {E a I UNITED STATES MILES SWEET, or
TROY, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURRY-COMBS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 157,942, dated December 22, 1874; application filed June 29, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MILES SWEET, of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curry-Combs and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents, in perspective, one of the curry-combs complete; and Fig. 2 represents a plan of the under or toothed sideof the same.
My invention consists in a curry-comb, the ends or frame and the handle of which are made out of one and the Same piece of bent wire.
To enable those Skilled'in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the same with reference to the drawin gs.
The bars A, in the flanges of which the teeth a are out, are made of sheet metal, in the usual well-known way, and they are riveted, as at b, to lugs 0, cast on and with the cast-iron bar B. ()n this bar 13 are also cast fhesplit loops or ears 6, by which the body of the curry-comb and the handle and end frame are united. The handle 0 is made of a piece of wire, bent substantially in the form shown in the drawings, said handle terminating Where the loop or ring f is passed around to unite the two parts of said handle. From this point the same wire becomes braces, 0, up to the point e, Where they pass through the first loop, and from this point the same wire, 0, becomes a frame for uniting the handle to the body of the currycomb, and beyond the last loop, 6, the Same wire may be turned outward, as at g, to form the knockers. Thus one single piece of wire forms the handle and end pieces or frame, and may also constitute the knocker, though this latter maybe cast upon the bar B.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim is- In combination with the body of the currycomb, the single piece of wire 0 O O united thereto, and constituting the handle and the frame both, when bent and shaped as herein described and represented.
MILES SWEET.
