Be it known that I, CARL'ISLE A. LrnooLN, a citizen of the United States, residmg at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of- New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Closure. Members for Spring Covers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in theart to whichit appertains to make and use the same." 1
The present invention relates to spring covers. or boots and more particularly to cer- "tain improvements in connection therewith tending to improve the appearance and efli-z Certaln copending applications filed of even date herewith have disclosed a spring cover comprlslng either sectional casings or a casing extending continuously from the central portion to the ends of the spring, together with closure members for improving the appearance and substantially sealing the casring adjacent the spring clips.
It is the object of the present to provide a simple and improved form of closure member. which tightly seals the spring cover at the region adjacent the spring clip. WVith this end in view, a tea-- ture of the invention contemplatesthe provision of a closing member extending about the spring adjacent the spring clip and interposed between the spring clip and the'body of the spring, the closure member being so constructed that when assembled in position it may not be removed without removal of the clip. a In the accompanying drawings illustrating the preferred formot the invention, Fig. 1 represents a top plan view of a portion of a spring cover adjacent a spring clip with the improved closure member applied there.- to: Fig. 2 is a side elevation partly in section invention against the sides of the spring and is held in position through a head 16 formed upon the bolt and a nut 18 engaging with the opposite member'is provided with aflat depression 24 extending lengthwise which is adapted to receive and "fit the yoke 12. After. the 010- sure plate has been assembledwith the yoke of'tlie spring clip, the pressure of they yoke causes a series "of inclined flanges 26 and27 projecting from opposites'ides of the 'clo--. sure plate to yieldingly engage with the flexible coverorcasing adjacent thereto, as
clearly indicated in Fig. 2. -The top"p0r,
tion of the casing adjacent theclip bolt is j engaged by a corrugated closure plate 30 having acentral depression 32 adapted to engage beneath the spring bolt andcause' a downward pressure'to be exerted at the outer edges of the laterally extending flanges 34 in a manner to causethese flanges to engage and bear firmly upon the casing at the top of thefspring. The insertion of the s rin bolt into the clip obviousl looks I P a y the closure platein position-and prevents;
its removal either accidentally or otherwise. Thisform'of closure presents'a neat,
well fitting appearance and accomplishes should be understood in addition that although the illustrated embodiment of the inthe necessary holding and sealing functions of the cover adjacent the spring clips. It,9

The spring casing may be of the usual ploy merely atop closure member which necessitates only thegremoval of the clip bolt without disturbing the main portion of the spring clip. 1
-VVhileit is preferred to'employ the spe- 5 clip, nevertheless it may be desirable to em- 7 I type indicated generally at'lO andhav-ing an opening to allow the upper endso'f the spring clip 12 and the clip bolt 14 to project therethrough.
