.Application led August 6, 1925. Serial No. 48,548.
To all whom t 'nary concern.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM ALBERT RAMsnY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Charlotte-in the county of Mecklenburg .and State of North Carolina, have invented a new and useful Garment Drier, of which .the following is a specifica-- tion.
The object of my invention is to provide a novel, eiiicient, inexpensive vand portable apparatus for drying garments for use in cleaning or tailoi` establishments. I attain these and other objects of my invention by the apparatus illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in-which:
Figure l is a perspective view of my invention in use;
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a modified form of my invention; and
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section on line 3% of Fig. 12.
Like characters of reference designate like parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, I provide a skeleton box or frame 1 having a screen covered hinged lid 2. 'Ihe frame is provided with base 3 which supports the electric Ian et. I provide a circular wire frame 5 fastened in any suitable manner on lid 2 and to which is attached a plurality of springs 6 carrying the wire clothes pins 7, I provide an L-shaped garment supporting rod 10 secured'in upright position byb'races 8. Rod 10 and boX frame 1 are mounted on castors 9. I also provide a series of clamps 11 secured to rod l() and in turn holding the electric cord 12 which is connected to the electrician at one end and carries a plug '13 for connecting it with a suitable source of electric current, at the other end. I provide a suitable eye 14 on the upper end of rod 10 to which in' turn is secured a chain 15 and a spring device 16 terminating in an eye or hook 17 to which the conventional clothes hanger II-may be attached to support any desired garment G. I fasten clothes pin 7 to spacedportions of the hem or lower portion of the garment G to hold it in spread position to permit the current of air from tan 4 to freely circulate through it. In a modilied form of my 1nvention substantially the same elements are utilized but a slightly modied framework is used. As both forms of the invention inlilile castors the devices are readily, port- `the'springs on the ring device.
In using the device, in the case of a dress, the `dress is hung on a conventional clothes hanger and the hem of the dress is attached to a series of clothes pins which are attached to the springs anchored on the ring device attached to the lid of the frame so as to holdA ventional clip trouser hangers which are attached tov springs depending from the cross rod of a conventional garment hanger which is suspended in turn from the spring attached to the L-shaped rod. The yvaist ott the trousers is fastened in spread open position by the Vseveral clothes pins carried by This arrangementpermitsthe fan to circulate air freely through the garments andA thus to quickly dry them and to remove the odor of gasolene or other fluid used in cleaning thel garments.
What I claim is: 1. In a garment drier, the combination of a skeleton trame having a base to support an electrician, an L-shaped rod for su porting the garment over the frame,- races securing said rod to the frame, a screenvcovered hinged lid on the frame, a ring device anchored on the frame, means for suspending one end of the garment from the end of the L-shaped rod, and means for fasteningthe other end of the garment to the ring-shaped anchoring device.
2. Ina garment drying device for use fin cleaning establishments, the combination of a basket-like frame, a screen-covered lid on said frame, an lle-shaped garment support ing-rod, braces for securing saidrod in fixed relation to the frame, means for suspending one end of the garment to the L-sha ed t rod, means for anchoring the other en ofthe` garment m proxunlt covered lid, and an electrlc tan` positioned in the trame andarranged to dlscharge a to the screencurrent of air. upwards through-the gar'- 3. In a gpgment drier, the combination of a skeleton rame having a base to support an electric fan, an L-shaped rod for support# .for suspending one end ofthe garment from one end ofthe Lehaped rod, and resilient l I means for fastening the other end of the garment to g the 4ring-shaped anchoringdevice.; y
4. In a garment drying device Hfor use in cleaning establishments, the combination of a basket-like frame, a screen-coveredflid on the other end of the garment in proximity` to the screen-covered lid, and an electric fan positioned in theframe"and arranged to y discharge a current of air upward through the garments.
v '5. In a garment drying device for use in cleaning establishments, the combination of a basket-like frame, a screen-covered lid on said frame, an L-shaped garment-supporting rod, braces for securing said rod in fixed relation to the frame, resilient means for suspending one end- .of the garment to the L-shaped rod, resilient means for anchoring the other .end of the garment inf proximity to thev screen-covered lid, an' electric fan positioned in the frame and arrangedto discharge a current of air u Wards through the garments; and an electric plug and cord connected to the `fan-and clamps attached to the L-sha ed rod for holding the cord.
