BABY CRAWLER Application filed June 6, 1925. Serial No. 35,381.
ful Improvements in a Baby Crawler, of.
which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to baby vehicles and,
has for its object to provide a device which is designed to keep babies, from six months to a year and a halt old, from crawling on their stomachs over floors or other plane Thus the primary object of the device is to protect the babys health by keeping its clothes sweet and clean but allowing the baby to have beneficial and developing; exercise by use of its arms and legs to propel the crawler over the floor with ease and safety.
An object is to provide a baby or kiddie crawler of such construction and design that the babys fingers, hands, toes and legs will be protected from being run over by the rollers or casters of the device.
Several other objects and advantages will be made manifest in the following specification of illustrated embodiments of the invention herewith; it being understood that modifications, variations and adaptations may be resorted to within the spirit and scope of the invention as it is here claimed.
Figure 1 is a perspective of the preferred form of the crawler.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of it.
Figure is a plan showing the disposition of the rollers.
Figures 4 and 5 show figured head ends on the crawler.
The crawler comprises a preferably fiat bottom board or plank 2 having a reduced or narrowed end 5 thus forming reentr ant arm spaces 4 so that a baby lying on the board could thrust his arms and hands down within the extreme side edges, the infants shoulders being disposed about at the neck 5. To prevent the baby from rolling off the board 2 this has perpendicularside guards 7 extending from the front corners at the neck 5 of the board and back of the babys shoulders.
Atthe rear end of the guards 7 the board is cut sharply in at 8 and forms a narrow tail part 9 over the side edges of which the babys legs may comfortably hang to reach the floor and he worked, to propel the crawler. V I
The front end of the crawler is elevated and supported by a pair of swivel rollers or castors 1.0 spaced well in from the edges of the crawler so that the babys fingers cannot be caught and run over.
The rear end of the crawler is supported on a central trailing roller 11.
I prefer that the head and tail ends of the crawler be rounded off as shown in Fig. 1, but the head and tail parts may be variously shaped and decorated as in Figs. l and 5.
If desired a fastening girdle 12 attached to prevent marring of objects which may be struck and serve to easily deflect the crawler in glancin blows.
hat is claimed is:
1. A baby crawler comprising a bottom member having upright side guards to keep a. baby in place on its stomachg'the front and the rear ends of the said member being sharply inwardly recessed at the margin to form arm and leg spaces at the ends of the guards to enable foot and hand propulsion. 2. A baby crawler comprising a bottom member having upright side guards to keep a baby .in place on its stomach; the front and the rear ends of the said member being sharply inwardly recessed. at the margin to form arm and leg spaces at the ends of the guards to enable foot and hand propulsion, the trailing end of the crawler having a central castor roller, and a pair of front rollers spaced in such a position from the front edges of the bottom member as to prevent catching the babys lingers.
3. A baby crawler having a flat bottom board with sharply incurved front corners extending to a rounded leading end over the sides of which the babys arms may be 4:. A baby crawler comprising a bottom member having upright side guards to keep.
a baby in place on its stomach; the front and the rear ends of theszud member being sharply inwardly recessed at the margin to form arm and 16; spaces at the ends of the guards to enable foot and hand propnl- 10 sion and means, fastened to the bottom of the crawler, tofbe passedover the baby. to secure it in place.
