IMPROVEMENT lN SHUTTER- FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters liatent No. 156,486, dated November 3, 1874; application filed October 17, 1874.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, Mrs. JOSEPHINE S. KEATOR, of Kingston, in the county of Ulster and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Blind and Shutter Fastening, of which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to a new and improved device for fastening window blinds or '13 is the sash. O is the fastening-hook, which engages with the staple D of the blind. The
butt-end of this hook is turned to form a right angle, E being the portion so turned. F is a plate, which is fastened to the window-sill. The hook is secured to this plate by the rivet G. This plate may be dispensed with, and the hook may be fastened by a screw directly to the sill, if desired. In such a case the hook would be bent upward to raise the end-somewhat from the sill. H is a lip, which projects up ward from the portion E,which bears again st the sash when aneffort is made to unfasten the blind from theoutside. I is the lower rail of the sash, which bears against the lip H.
The window-blind is, therefore, safe when the sash is closed.
When the sash is up the hook may be secured by a-pin inserted in, or a button fastened to, the windowsill, or in any suitable manner.
This is a cheap and simple device, and one entirely effective for fastening the blinds or shutters of windows. v
Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A blind or shutter fastening consisting of the hook O with an angular portion,E, substantially as described.
2. The lip H, in combination with a blindfastening hook, substantially as shown and described.
