Be it known that l, .ii/fonti G. GnonNIo/K, a citizen of the United States, residing at l/linneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new anc useful improvements in Collapsible Receptacles, of which the followingis a specification.

This invention relates to collapsible containers and the main object is to provide a receptacle of a neat and compact character which may be conveniently used, for instance, as a lunch box, vanity case or as a case for money, personal effects, etc., the uses to which it may be put being limited only by the site and proijiortions embodied in the device, and the wishes of the owner. Further and more spccilic objects will be disclosed in the course of the following` specification, reference being,T had to the accompanying' drawing, in which:

15 and 16 hinedl connected together as at 1?. il flexible cover member 18, which is secured to and entends from the back section 12, is glued or otherwise suitably secured to the entire outer surface of the member 15, but is not secured to the member 16, so that the latter may be folded away from the cover member and against the member 15 (see Fig. 2)., when so desired, thus leaving a flexible strap connection between the near edges of the

12 and 15. From the outer edge of the top section 15 the flexible cover menr ber continues in a portion 18a which is creased or folded at 19, when the device is collapsed, and at 20, when it is set up.

A small coin purse 21 and mirror Q2 may be secured to the .inner side of the member 18a, if so desired. A snap fastener 23, near the outer edge of the flap 18a, is arranged to releasably engage a (zo-operating member Q4 when the case is collapsed, and asimilar member 25, when the device is set up. A handle 2li is provided whereby the device may be carried either when setup or collapsed.

lllhen the device is set up, as Ain Fig. 3, it will be obvious that a" complete sheet metal enclosure is provided, the fabric or flexible portion serving only to bind the parts together in an eflicient and practical manner, as well as serving to add greatly to the appearance of the container. lVhen the device is toi be collapsed, the fastener 23 is released from the member 25, the top 15-16 and flap 18a are folded back, the fasteners 13 are then released from the slots 14E, after which the end sections 9 are folded into the base, the front section 11 is folded down upon the end sections, the member 16 is folded against the member 15, (to permit the flexible portion 18 to be pulled over the base, as in Fig. 2), the top 15 is folded down and the end flap 18a is pulled around until the fastener 23 can be snapped into engagement with the member 241. The

device as collapsed has the appearance of a neatly formed and attractive ladies purse, and is therefore very desirable for that reason as well as for the reasons which have already been stated.

It is understood that various modifications may be made in the general design and structural details of the invention as herein disclosed, provided, however, that such modifications come within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Having now therefore fully shown and described my invention, what I claim to be new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:

1. A collapsible receptacle consisting of a base, side and end sections hingedly secured to the base, a flexible cover member adapted to substantially enclose the receptacle whenk the latter is collapsed, a sheet metallic top section adapted to close the receptacle When set up, said top section being secured to the cover member and being jointed, as and for the purpose set forth. v

2. A collapsible receptacle consisting of a base, inwardly foldable side and endr sections secured to the base, means for detachably securingthe side and end sections in a verticalposition, a cover member extending at one end from one of the side sections, and adapted to be secured with its other end to the receptacle, a top sect-ion, secured to the cover member, for closing the receptacle When set up, said top section consisting of a pair of hingedly connected sheet metal members.
