Description

Nov lo y SOAP DISH I Filed "ay 21. 1925 Patented Nov. 10, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OTTO G. HITCHCOCK, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR 'IO HAYS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA, A CORPORATION OF PENNSYLVANIA.
SOAP DISH.
Application filed May 21, 1925.
T 0 all who/m` t may concern.'
Be it known that I, OTTO G. Hrrcrrcocir, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, county of Erie, tate of -Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Soap Dishes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to soap dishes, particularly adapted for use with laundry tray fixtures, and has for its object to provide an improved means for clamping said dish to one of the vertical water supply pipes, above the laundry tub, whereby said dish will be held rigidly in position against movement in any direction.
rlfhis object I accomplish in the manner and by the means hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a perspective view of my iinproved soap dish shown clamped to a vertical pipe.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the same, the tray being shown partly broken away.
Figure 3 is an enlarged detail sectional view taken on the line III-III of Figure 2. Figure l is a detail perspective view of the clamping block.
Similar numerals of reference denote corresponding parts in the several views.
In said drawing the reference numeral l denotes a conventional soap dish formed of suitable unyielding material, and provided with the usual soap supporting ribs 2 in the bottom thereof, and also with drain apertures 3 at its front ends. Formed integral with the rear wall of said dish are two lugs l projecting therefrom in parallel relation, said lugs being apertured at 5 for the free passage of a screw bolt 6, headed on one end at 7 Said bolt is adapted for screwthreaded engagement with a clamping block 8, curved at 9 on its front face to conform to the general configuration of .the water supply pipe 10 to which the device is to be clamped.
In applying the soap dish to the water pipe, the same is so disposed with respect to said pipe that .the lugs 4 embrace said pipe,
Serial No. 31,760.
as shown in the drawing, the wall between said lugs being suitably curved to fit the configuration of the pipe, as best seen in Figures 1. and 3. The vclamping block S then is positioned against the rear wall of the pipe on one side of its center, asshown in Figure 3, and the bolt 6 passed in screwthreaded engagement through the same and freely through the apertures 5 in the lugs et. By tightening said bolt the clamping block 8 will be forced into rigid contact with the piper 10, due to the engagement of the head 7 of said bolt with the outer face of one of the lugs il, thus rigidly clamping the soap dish in position.
It will be understoodthat the clamping block 8 and bolt G may be reversed, if it is more convenient to apply the same from the opposite side, by simply VVreversing said block, and inserting the bolt 6 therethrough anjl through the lugs 4 from the opposite s1 e.
It will also be understood that my ini-- proved clamp is adapted to attach a soap dish in any desired position with relation to any vertical circular support.
Having thus fully described my inven-A tion, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 2 l. A soap dish adapted to be clamped to a pipe, comprising a pair of lugs adapted to embrace said pipe, a clamping block disposed between said lugs and adapted to engage said pipe, and a headed screw-bolt in threaded engagement with said block and passing freely through apertures in said ugs.
2. A soap dish adapted to be clamped to a pipe, comprising a pair of lugs adapted to embrace said pipe, a clamping` Vblock disposed between said lugs and shaped on one face to fit said pipe, and a headed screwbolt in threaded engagement Iwith said block tnd passing freely through apertures in said ugs. l
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
-orfro e, HITCHCOCK.
