UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS HARVEY, OF RENOVO, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN lRONlNG-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 156,084, dated October 20, 1874; application filed August 10, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANCIS HARVEY, of Renovo, Clinton county, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Ironing-Table, of which the following is a specification:
The invention relates to and consists in the improvement in ironing-tables, as hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the table and a section of the bracket by which it is attached to the wall, this section being taken on the line a; m, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the table when folded up to and secured on the wall. Fig. 3 is a top view of bracket with pivoted plate open.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is a bracket attached to the wall for supporting the knuckle B, which has a pivot, O, passing through the plate D and secured by the pin E, which allows it to revolve a quarter of a turn and arrests its further movement in one direction by the stops F on it, and in the other direction by the stops Gr (dotted) on bracket A. This plate is pivoted at one end to the bracket in the open end of its horizontal slot H by the pin 1. The table J is connected to the knuckle B by a vertical pivot, K, projecting from its under side. The leg L is pivoted at the outer end of the table, so as to be folded up and secured by the button M, and it has a brace, N, to hold it in position for supporting the table when let down for use. The brace is jointed to the leg and detachably connected to, the table by the pin 0. P is the bar for securing the clotheshooks. It is connected to the arms Q, which are pivoted to the under side of the table, so that it will swing out beyond the edge or back under it. One of the arms Q is slotted to slide on its pivot and prevent any binding or cramping of thejoint. The plate D turns on its pivot I, to swing the table to or from the wall when folding up or down, and the knuckle B turns in said plate, for shifting the table to a horizontal or vertical plane. The pivot K allows of turning the table around to the wall when let down for use. This pivot may be dispensed with in case the table can be allowed to stand at right angles to the wall when in use. i
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with bracket A, having slot H, of knuckle B, having horizontal pivot G, the pivoted plate D, pins I E, and stops F G, to enable a table, J, having pivot K, to be turned, as described.
FRANCIS HARVEY.
