To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, VIRGINIA P. NELSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of hlanhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Attachment for Cribs, Perambulators, and the like, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to attachments for cribs, perambulators and the like, an object of the invention being to provide an attachment which will hold a mosquito canopy or the like in proper position on a crib, perambulator or other support.

A primary object of my invention is to provide anattachment or attachments which can be manufactured and sold at an extremely low price and which may be operatively placed in position on a crib, perambulator, etc., so as to properly support a canopy, and which attachment is capable of removal when not desired for use.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1.is a perspective view illustrating my improved attachments in operative position on a crib;

Figure 2 is a perspective view of a per ambulator showing. one of my improved attachments thereon;

Figures 3, 4 and 5 are perspective views of details of construction of one of my'improved attachments.

I refer to an attachment as comprising three members, consisting of a strip 1 and a pair of brackets 3, 3. The strip 1 is of thin steel or other analogous material having its ends bent into coils, as indicated at 9.. Each of the other members 3 comprises a supporting bracket, and as these brackets are'precisely alike a description of one will apply alike to both.

Each bracket is made of a strip of steel or other analogous material, having a straight or flat portion 4 perforated as shown at 5 for the reception of screws, bolts or other securing means to rigidly secure the brackets to their supports.

The strips forming the brackets throughout the greater portion of their length are coiled or bent into spiral form and have fixed lugs or stops 6 at one of their ends and hinged locking pins or arms 7 at their other ends.

In usingthis term ends I have reference to the sides of the strips which form the coils of the brackets.

In Figure 1 I show a pair of my improved attachments in operation on a crib 8. Brackets 3 are secured to the opposite sides of the crib and, the strip 1 is of appreciably greater length than the width of the crib so that when its

2, 2 are moved into position inside of the coiled'brackets 3 the strips 1 will form an arch or bow over the top ofthe crib and conveniently support a canopy, such as indicated by, the dotted line 9.

In Figure 2 I illustrate one of my improved attachments in operative position on a perambulator 10, and it is to be understood that either in connection with the crib, perambulator or other device, I may employ any desired number of these attachments in accordance with the desire of the user to give the necessary support for the canopy.

It will be understood, of course, that in coupling the strip 1 to the brackets 3, the coil ends 2 must be moved transversely relative to the brackets so as to position them in the coils of the brackets. This movement is limited by the fixed stop 6, and when the coils 2 are in position the pivoted locking pins or arms 7 are swung downwardly across the ends of the coils so as to eflt'ectually hold them in coupled engagement.

Various slight changes and alterations might be made in the general form of the parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth but consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope V of the appendedclaims. I

I claim:

1. An attachment of the character described, comprising a pair of coiled brackets, and a flexible strip having coiled'ends fitting in the coiled brackets.

2.
