TOY SAFETY-RAZOR OUTFIT.

Be it known that I, GEORGIA A. PosT, a citizen of the United States, and resident of est Long Beach, in the county of Nassau and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Toy Safety-Razor Outfits, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like reference characters on the drawings representing like parts.

My present invention relates to a toy safety razor and more particularly to sucha toy safety razor in combination with a brush enclosed therein, and a novel shaving soap.

So far as I am aware there has never been devised a toy shaving outfit particularly for young boys. It is a well known fact that when a boy reaches a certain age, he is obsessed with a desire to emulate older men. Particularly is this noticed in the desire of many young boys to imitate their fathers or older brothers in shaving. The result of this is that they frequently endeavor to carry out such imitations with the older persons own razor, frequently resulting in serious cuts and other injuries.

An important object of my present invention, therefore, is to provide a toy safety razor which will be absolutely fool-proof, and with which the child will be unable to injure himself.

A further feature of my present invention is to provide a shaving brush, concealed within the handle of the razor, and operable by very simple means.

A further important object of my present invention is to provide with the aforesaid razor and brush a whisker shaving soap. This soap may be either a powder, cream, cake, or stick, and has fixed therewith small particles of finely chopped bristles. Thus, when the boy lathers his face with the whisker shaving soap, he has worked up a lather having therein these particles of bristles sinmlating the natural hair of the face. The result is that when he removes this lather from his face with the toy safety razor, he has the sensation of actually shaving, superinduced by the sight of the bristles in the lather, and it may well be that the childs imagination will render this a very pleasing amusement.

Further features of the invention, novel combinations of parts and advantages will be hereinafter more fully pointed out and claimed.

Referring to the drawings, illustrating preferred embodiments of my invention.

Fig. 1 is a side view of my novel razor in closed form, illustrating the brush contained within the handle;

Referring to the drawings, my novel toy razor comprises a hollow handle 1, havin integrally secured thereto an imitation blade and guard portion 2. This shaving portion 2 is curved and shaped to simulate the ordinary shaving head of a safety razor, but not being provided with any blade, there is no possibility of the child injuring himself by using the same. On the lower portion of the handle 1, I provide a cap or. cover 3, this cap or cover fitting over the end of the handle 1, and abutting against the peripheral flange 4. The cap 3 is maintained in position on the handle 1 by the snugness of its fit thereover. In the handle 1 is also provided a slot 5, this slot having at either end thereof bayonet joint socket-s 6 and 7 The brush for use in combination with my novel toy razor comprises the bristles 10, a ferrule or band 11, and a projecting knob 12. This brush is adapted to lit within the hollow handle 5, and when in closed posit-ion, the knob 12 fits within the bayonet joint socket 6, so that the brush bristles are entirely concealed within the handle 1, whereupon the cap 3 is fitted over the lower end of the handle, and the same then is in compact form as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2. When it is desired to utilize the brush for working up alather, the cap 3 is removed, the knob 12 moved sideways out of the socket 6, slid downwardly along the slot 5, and then sideways until the knob 12 engages with the bayonet joint socket 7. The brush is now in the position as illustrated in Fig. 8, ready for use.

I may desire to utilize a toy safety razor 0 separate and apart from the brush element, and have illustrated in Fig. 4 such a razor, comprising a handle 20, an imitation shaving portion 21, and an enlarged end portion 22 for facility in holding. With this form of razor, any kind o f brush could be used.

Fig. 7 is intended todesignate my novel whisker shaving soap, contained in a box 25. This soap 26 isinade by mixing therewith a mass of s1nall,.finely chopped bristles 27, preferably black in color, although any colored bristles could be used. The function of this whisker shaving soap is to produce upon the face of the child using the same a: lather containing these fine particles of bristle, so that when the child removes the same with the toy razor, he has the fun of making believe that he is actually shaving and removing whiskers from his face.

I believe that a toy safety razor of the kind described, is new, and I wish to claim the same broadly herein.

' I am also informed and believe, that my whisker shaving soap is novel, and I also desire to claim this herein.

WVhile I have described my invention somewhat in detail, will be appreciated that I am not limited thereto, but may vary the size, shape and arrangement of parts within reasonably wide limits Without departing from the principle of the invention.

My invention is further described and defined in the form of claims as follows:

1. A toy safety razor outfit, comprising an imitation razor, a brush contained in the handle thereof, and a soap for use therewith, said soap having mixed therewith particles of bristle.

2. A toy safety razor of the kind described, comprising a. hollow handle, a slot in said handle, said slot having bayonet joint recesses at either end thereof, a brush member adapted to lit within the handle, and means on said brush adapted to be operated along said slot, said means cooperating with the bayonet joint recesses to hold said brush in operative and inoperative position, a cover adapted to fit over the open end of the GEORGIA A. POST.
