Be it known that I, WALDEMAR Kors, a cltizen of the United States, residing in the borough of. Manhattan, city, county, and

State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Brassieres, of which the following is a specification. c v

This invention relates to a brassiere, and like other garments of its general type is adapted to be secured on the body of the wearerto overlie, confine and support the busts In brassieres as generally constructed, the tension applied at the front of the garment produces a more or less flat front effect. Obviously the flattening of the busts in front causes a greater or less spread of the flesh at the sides, and the object of my invention is thecprovision of a garment in whichthe fiat front effect will be produced and. adequate support provided for the spread of the flesh at the sides of the wearer, and also in the same garment to provide tension straps "-which are so placed as to be adapted to bear against and sup port and thus control the diaphragm of the wearer. j

To this end, in carrying out the invention,

the garment nade in accordance therewith is so constructed as to provide a front memberfin which there is simultaneously produced a downward tension and lateral tension diverging to the lower front sectionof the garment to exert the necessary pressure for producing the flat front efiect and to provide forthe support of the spread of the flesh atthe sides of the body,iand also suitable tension straps for producing a pressure against the diaphragm to. control and support the same, as hereinbefore stated, and as will be hereinafter more "particularly described. v i I In the drawing: n

This garment is adapted to extend around the body from the front to the back and to be secured in position at the back by the hooks and eyes described. I claim as my invention:

1. In a brassiere a body member having a front central section, side sections adjacent thereto, each side section having a strap continuation extending downwardly and forwardly, the said straps being connected at their extremities adjacent the lower edge of the brassiere, and means connected to the extremities of the said straps to depend.

therefrom for coacting with the front central section to exert a straight downward tension in the front central section and laterally inclined downward tensions in the side sections of the brassiere.

2. In a brassiere, a body member having a front central section and adjacent side sections, the side sections including oppositely disposed downwardly inclined straps, the forward portions of the said side sections at the lower ends thereof terminating in the said straps which converge and are connected at their extremities adjacent the lower front central edge of the brassiere, and a tape connected to and extending from the extremities of the said straps and provided with attachments for connection respectively to an under garment and the lower portions of the said central section of the brassiere.

3. In a brassiere a body member having a front central section, side sections adjacent thereto, the said side sections each having a strap continuation extending downwardly and forwardly with the said straps underlying the front central section and connected to one another at their extremities immediately below the front central section, and means connected to the extremities of the straps and the said front central section to exert a straight downward tension in the front central section and laterally inclined downward tensions in the side sections of the brassiere.

4. In a brassiere, a body member having a front central section and adjacent side sections, the side sections including oppositely disposed downwardly inclined straps, the forward portions of the said side sections at the lower ends thereof terminating in said straps which underlie the front central section and are connected to one another at their extremities, and a tape connected to and extending from the extremities of the said straps and provided with attachment devices, one of which is adapted to be connected to an under garment and the other to one of a plurality of eyelets provided for this purpose in the lower portion of the said central section of the brassiere.

5. In a brassiere, a body member having a front central section and side sections ex tending from the front section to approximately the axillar lines of the garment, the said'side sections including oppositely disposed downwardly inclined straps converging to the lower front central edge of the brassiere, tension devices connected to the extremities of the said converging straps and coacting therewith to produce both a downward tension and laterally disposed side tensions in the said front central section of the brassiere, and tension straps each including an elastic and an inelastic section extending from the front central section to approximately the axial line of the garment and each overlying a portion of the lower part of the corresponding side section of the brassiere.
