K. .KOVACS TOY GUN- Filed Nov, `20, 1922 INVENTOR WITNESS: ATTORNEY Patented ct. 13, 1925.
UNITED STATES lPA'ihlT GFFICE.
KALMAN KOVACS, 0F IlIANBAB., WEST VIRGNA.
TOY GUN.
Application led November To @ZZ 107mm t may concern:
Be it known that l, KALMAN Keines, a citizen ot Hungary7 residing at Manbar, in the county orF Logan and State ot llVest Virginia, have invented new and useful Iniprovements in Toy Guns, oit which the tollowing` is a specieation.
This invention relates to toys and contemplates the provision ot a device tor shooting projectiles, the device being' very simple in construction so that it can be manufactured and sold at a very normal cost.
More specifically stated7 the invention iircludes a body portion having a longitudinal bore in which operates a spring pressed plunger for shooting projectiles' from the body portion, the bore being; lined with a metallic sleeve which projects a slight distance beyond one end of the body and turned outwardly against said end to protect this end ot the body from being mutilated or injured in any way whatsoever.
In the drawings forming part ot this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar partsv in the several views, and wherein Figure l is a side elevation ot the toy.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional View therethrough.
Figure 3 is an end elevation.
Figure l is a transverse sectional View.
Figure 5 is a detail view of the sleeve.
Referring to the drawings in detail, l() indicates the body of the toy which is preterably constructed from wood and provided with a longitudinal bore 1l. peratinein the bore is a plunger 12 including1 a rod 13, the latter projecting` beyond one end of the body portion and equipped with a handle 14. Carried by the rod 13, and disposed adjacent one end ot the handle is a washer ot Vrubber or other relatively sott material7 which is adapted to contact the end ot the body portion when the plunger is released trom a retracted position, thereby eliminating noise which would otherwise occur from the impact of the handle against the body portion. The bore l1 is lined for a portion of its' length with a metallic sleeve 15, the
a projectile inserted in the sleeve above re- Yterred to and the projectile is shot from the toy incident to the release ot the plunger from a retracted position. A spring 19 surrounds the plunger rod and operates to torcibly move the plunger in one direction, this spring beingv eoi'npressed when the plunger is retracted. The toy is not only simple in construction, but consists ot Very few parts which are so arranged that it can not be easily broken or impaired.
While it is believed'that trom the 'foregoingdescription, the nature and advantages ot the invention will be readily apparent, l desire to have it understood that l do not limit myselt' to what herein shown and described and tiat` such chan` es may be resorted to when desired tall within the scope ot what is claimed.
laying' thus described my invention. l claim:
A toy or' the character described comprisingr a body portion havingv liat bottom, sides and a curved top2 and a longitudinal bore opening at one end. a metallic sleeve linine` said bore throughout its entire length, the :forward edge ot said sleeve being' slotted to provide a plurality of bendable portions which increase in width toward their outer ends. said ends being adapted to be bent outwardly against the adjacent end ot the body portion to protect the latter, a spring pressed plunger operating within the sleevea a rod connected with the plunger and slidable through the other end of the body portion, and spaced sights rising from the curved top and arranged one at one end and the other at a point between the ends of 'said top for the purpose specilied.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
KALMAN KOVACS.
