LUNCH-COUNTER RACK.

Be it known that I, Sims P. IVRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in t-he county of LosAngeles and State of California, havelinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Lunch-Counter Racks, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to a lunch counter rack for holding sugar bowls, pepper and salt shakers, sauce bottles, napkins, and a bill of fare. 'lheprincipal object of the invention is to provide a device of ythis nat-ure which may be attached to the ordinary lunch counter so that it may be moved to an out-of-the-way position when it is desired to clean the counter.

Another important object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature having a simple and efficient construction, one which is reliable, inexpensive to manufacture, attractive in appearance, and-well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a. device of this nature having a compactstructure the part-s of which are easily assembled and attached to the lunch counter by any one, no extraordinary mechanical skill being required.

With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

A rail 5 is of substantial U- shape in formation having offset terminals in the form of legs 6. y portion of the rail 5 is provided with a pair of reduced rounded portions 7 adapted to be received and journaled in the sleeves 4. Such articles as sugar bowls, pepper and salt shakers, and sauce bottles may be placed on the counter within the confines of the rail 5. A bar 8 is -attached to the inner side Vof the intermediate portion of the rail 5 so as to be spaced therefrom, washers 9 being utilized for this purpose. A container indicated generally at 10 is attached to the bar L8 so as to normally rest upon the counter 1. The `space between the bar 8 andthe intermediate ortion of the rail 5 may be utilized for holding a bill of fare or menu card and the length of this bar 8 may be varied to accommodate the width of said card.

The intermediate portions of the U-shaped member 12 extend, longitudinally while the intermediate portionsof the U-shaped member Y'13 are disposed transversely thereof and fixed lthereto by means of bolts or in any other suitable manner. The legs of the U-shaped members l2 and 13 extend vertically and are fixed to a substantially rectangular shaped bail 14 at their upper. terminals. This container is utilized for holding napkins or the like.

The embodiment of the invention which I have diselosed in detail merely illustrates the preferred example of the device and it4 is 'evident that numerous changes in the detalls of construction, and in the combination -anol arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any ofits advantages.

What is claimed is:

1. In an attachment for a counter, a pair of standards adapted to rise from the counter,'a rail of U-shaped formation terminating at its ends in offset legs adapted to rest on the counter, the intermediate portion of said rail being journaled insaid standards, a bar xed in spaced relation to the intermediate portion of the rail, and a container attached to said bar and adapted to normally rest'on the counter.

2. In an attachment for a counter, a; pair of standards adapted to rise from -the counter, a rail of U-shaped formation terminating at its ends in offset legs adapted to rest on the counter, the intermediate portion of said rail being journaled in said standards, a bar fixed 1n spaced relation to the intermediate portion of the rail, and an article carrier attached to said bar.

Inan attachment for a counter, a pair of standards adapted to rise from the counter, a rail of U-shaped formation terminating at its ends in offset legs adapted to rest on the counter, the intermediate portion of said rail being journaled in said standards, a-bar fixed in spaced relation to the intermediate portion of the rail,iand an article carrier attached to said bar, bolts securing the ends of the bar to the inter-l mediate portion of the rail, and spacing elements upon the bolts between the ends of the bar andthe rail.

4. In an attachment for a'counter, a rail of substantially U-shape in formation and having offset extensions forming legs adapted to rest on the counter, the intermediate portions of the rail having spaced reduced portions of rounded form, a pair of standsILAs P. WRIGHT.
