s. A. ANTELMANN SOAP DISH- Filed Feb. 29, 1924 Patented Sept. 22, 1925.
GUSTAV A. AN ELMANN, on NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
SOAP DISH.
Application filed. February 29, 1924. Serial No. 695,952.
To all whom it may Concern:
Be it known that I, GUSTAV A. ANTEL- MANN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Soap Dishes; and I do .hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in soap dishes having means for facilitating the removal of a piece of soap therefrom.
An important object of this invention is to provide a soap dish of the character described having a soap removing tray pivotally carried thereby, the body portion of the soap removing tray being normally disposed beneath the plane of the soap supporting sections of the soap dish, thereby preventing contact of the soap with the soap removing tray except when the soap is being removed from the dish.
A further object of this invention is to provide a soap dish of the character de scribed, having means for preventing the caking of the soap to the dish, thereby permitting of its ready removal therefrom.
A further object of the invention is to provide a soap dish of the character described, which is of highly simplified con struction, neat in appearance and desirable in use.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same,
Figure 1 is a perspective of a soap dish constructed in accordance with this invention, and
Figure 2 is a transverse vertical section through the same. I
in the drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 generically designates a soap basket having my improved soap removing means applied thereto. A metal rod 6 bent in the form of a rectangle comprises he upper portion of the soap basket and has secured to the lower side thereof, a plurality of spaced parallel transversely extending U- shaped members 7. The U-shaped members or rods function as soap supporting elements. A. rod 8 disposed intermediate the longitudinal sides of the frame 6 is connected at its end port-ions to the transverse As sides of the frame 6 as shown at 9. clearly shown in Figure 1, the longitudinally extending rod 8 extends beneath the transversely extending rods 7 and is provided with a plurality of longitudinally curved portions 10 extending upwardly and engaging to the transversely extending rods 7. The rods 7 disposed at the ends of the basket are provided with downwardly extending portions 11 adapted to function as legs.
As clearly shown in Figure 1, a soap removing tray generically designated by the numeral 12 has pivotal connection with the basket. The soap removing tray 12 is formed of a single piece of metal and is bent between its ends to form a plurality of U-shaped soap engaging arms 13. Each of the U-shaped elements 13 is disposed between the transversely extending rods 7. The forward ends of the U-shaped members 18 have their bight portions 1 1' disposed adjacent the rear side of the basket. The forward portions of the .U-shaped members 13 extend upwardly as shown at 14, and abut the forward side of the rectangular member. Handles are formed integrally with the U-shaped members 13 and have the ends thereof extending partly around the rod 6 and soldered to several of the inner upright portions of the U- shaped members 13, as indicated at 16. The handles 15 are formed from wire extending from the outer U-shaped elements 13.
/Vith reference to Figure 1, it will be apparent that when the soap is placed within the basket, it will not contact with the U- shaped members 13 until the handle 15 is ac tuated. By normally spacing the soap removing element from the soap, oaking thereof is prevented and the ready removal of the soap is thereby permitted.
It will be obvious that by elfecting a piv otal movement of the soap removing tray,
the soap may be dumped out into the hands.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is understood that I may make such minor changes in arrangement and construction of ing a plurality of transversely extending spaced parallel supporting members and an open frame therefor, and a soap removing tray having pivotal .connectionwith said.
frame and having its body portion thereof normally disposed below the'plane of said transversely extending supporting members whereby the soap is normally spaced from said soap removing tray.
2. The combination with a soap basket having an open frame anda plurality of spaced transversely extending U-shaped supporting elements, of a soap removing tray formed from a-single length of metal pivotally secured to said frame and having a plurality of U-shaped arms normally disposed between and below the'plane of said soap supportingelements, and an actuating handle formed integral with said-soap removing arms, said soap removing tray being normally spaced from the soap within the basket.
3. The combination with a. soap basket having an open frame a plurality of transversely extendingrparallel Ushaped soap supporting elements connected therewith and a longitudinally extending longitudinally curved rod connected at its ends with said frame and attached to said transversely extending soap supportingelements, of a soap removing tray pivotally" secured to said frame, said soap removing tray being formed from a single strip of metal and bent to form aplurality of U-shaped soap removing arms, said U-shaped soap removing arms being normally. disposed between and. in a horizontal plane substantially: below the transversely extending soap supporting elementsv and: contacting with said longitudinally extending longitudinally curved rods, and a handle formed by the end portions of said soap removing tray said handle being curved about said frame and secured to certain of said U-shaped soap removing arms and in combination with said frame functioning as a hinge.
4. A soap basket including a plurality of spaced soap supporting elements, a soap removing element :normally disposed below the plane of said soap supporting elements andadapted to be extended througlrthe soap supporting elements fori removing the soap, and a handle for saidsoap removing element.
In testimony whereofI-aflix mysignature.
GUSTAVv A. ANIELMANN.
