Be it known that l, ERICK Mon, a citizen of the United States, residing at, Astoria. in the county of Eeuel and State of South Dakota, have invented a new and useful Washing Machine; of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to washing niaohines, and aims to provide novel means to be employed in connection with a washing machine wherein a'rotating' member forms a part. of the construction thereof, which rotary member being provided to insure against the articles being washed, bunching; in the center of the machine.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device'of,thischaractcr which will assist'in the cleaning of the articles by creating an additional suction within the body port-ion of the machine.

A stilliurther object of the invention is to provide a device which may be readily and easily attached to washing machines now in use, eliminating the necessity of malting alterations in the construction of the machine to install the device.

HACK-KIN This relatively straight wall 7 provides a support for the rotary member 8 which is mounted within the body portion 5 to operate rapidly. The device forming the essence of the invention is indicated generally by the reference character 9 and includes a cylindrical-shoped body comprising end members 10 that are held in spaced relation by means of the vertical bars 11. These bars 11 hare beveled outer surfaces 12 providing a rough surface to engage the articles under treatment to assist in removing foreign v matter therefrom.

As clearly shown by Figure 4 of the drawings, the alternate bars 11 are provided with lateral cut out portions 13 extending longitudinally thereof, and defining spaces to allow fluid to pass tl rough the cylindrical member 9 creating a suction within the body shown as extending through the disks. 10, the lower end of the shaft 17 being proi ided with a reduced portion 18 that fits in a suitable opening: in the member 8. The upper end of the shaft 17 extends above the cylindrical member where it is reduced and fitted in an opening in the bar 19 that is secured within the body portion of the washing machine by means of bolts 20, as clear-1y shown by Figure 1 of the drawings.

From the foregoing it will be obviousthat, articles supported within the washing" machine will be thrown laterally by the cylindrical body portion 9 to the end that, any possibility of the articles bunching at the center of the body portion will be elimi nated.

It might be further stated that due to the construction of the bars 11, a roughened surface is provided for contactingwith the articles under treatment to assist in the cleaning operation.
