Description

Patented Sepkt. 22, 1925.
OTTO GOTTSCI-IALK, OF DRESDEN, GERMANY.
SPRINKLING STOPPER.
Application filed August 11, 1924. Serial No. 731,511.
To LZZ whom t may concern Be it known that I, OTTO GorrsoHALx, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at 69 Kaitzerstrasse, Dresden, Germany, have kt invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sprinkling Stoppers, of which the following is a specification.
The subject of this invention is a sprinkling stopper for bottles and the like, in which a cover is rotatably mounted over a cap having an eccentric orifice and fixed to the neck of the bottle. y
According to the invention a closing member having an oblique bore is located on the cap so as to be coaxial and rotatable with the cover, the said closing member being kept in close contact with the cap by means of a leaf spring, which is placed on it and finds an abutment againstthe cover.
In the accompanying drawing a constructional example of the invention is shown,
Figures l to 4 showing the cap, the cover, the closing member and the leaf spring in section and in plan view and Figure 5 showing the stopper in section.
The new stopper comprises four parts, a cap a, a cover Z, a closing member f and a leaf spring o. The stop of the cap a (Fig. l), which is fixed on the neck of the bottle, is dished out centrally at b, the outer surface c of the dished out part being made exactly even and provided with an aperture CZ, which is slightly eccentric. At the edge of the capa is a bead e.
On the surface c of the cap rests the clos ing member f (Fig. 3) and the surface with which it rests on the cap is also exactly even. The closing member f is pierced by a hole Zi, which extends obliquely upwards from the hole Z in the cap and has its outlet in the axis of the closing member. This part of the closing member terminates in a square head z', which engages in a corresponding Square hole 7c in the cover Z (Fig. 2). The bent over'rim m of the cover engages under the bead e of the cap c. By this means the cover Z together with the closing member f can be turned about the central axis, the bottle being opened andvclosed according to hole d.
the position of the bore 71. relative to the In order to obtain a tight closure between the surfaces c and g, a leaf spring 0 (Fig. 4;) provided with a suitable square hole n is placed on the square head Z of the closing member f, the unsupported ends of the said spring resting against the inside of the cover Z and thereby holding the closing member f with a constant uniform pressure against the top of the cap a. By this means a perfectly ti ht closure is ensured.
at I claim is 1. A stopper for sprinkling vessels comprising in combination a cap capable of being fixed to the neck of the vessel, an eccentric hole in the top of the cap, a rotatable cover surrounding the said cap, a closing member on the top of the cap so as to be coaxial with the rotatable cover and rotatable with the same, a bore in the closing member, the lower end of which bore is at the same distance from the axis of rotation as the eccentric hole in the top of the cap, and a resilient member between the top of the closing member and the underside of the top of the cover for holding the bottom surface of the closing member in close contact with the top surface of the cap, as set forth.
2. A stopper for sprinkling vessels comprising in combination a cap capable of being fixed to thev neck of the vessel, an eccentric hole in the top of the cap, a rotatable cover surrounding lthe said cap, a closing member on the top of the cap so as to be coaxial with the rotatable' cover and rotatable with the same, an oblique bore in the closing member, the lower end of which bore is at the same distance from the axis of rotation as the eccentric hole in the top of the cap, and a resilient member between the top of the closing member and the underside of the top of the cover for holding the bottomV surface of the closing member in close contact with the top surface of the cap, as set forth.
3. A. stopper for sprinkling vessels comprising in combination a cap capable of be ing fixed to the neck of the vessel, an upwardly dished flat portion in the top of the cap, an eccentric hole in the said fiat portion, a rotatable cover surrounding the said cap, a closing member on the top of the cap so as to be coaxial with the rotatable cover and rotatable With the same, a bore in the clossurface of the closing member n close coning member7 .the lower end of Which bore is tact with the top surface of' the cap, as set at the same distance from the axis of rotaforth. 10 tion as the eccentric hole in the top of the In testimony whereof I have signed my 5 cap, anda resilient memberbetvyeeh the top name to this specification.
