To @YZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, LUri-inn 4F. Snm-\n, a citizen of the United States, residing vat the city ot St. Louis and State ot Missouri, have invented certain new and usetul lmA provements in lVindow Posts, ot which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to window posts, and more particularly to window posts for vehicles, such as trolley cars, railway trains, and the like. Y
An object of the invention is the provision of a window post formed ot resilient metal adapted to replace the wood turring and finish strips commonly employed on car windows.
A further object is the provision of a window post having a formed section made of resilient metal that may be adjusted toward the outer post to form a tight closure for the window.
A further object is the provision ot a resilient, formed section, t-he tree ends ot which extend around the sash to eect a weatherproofV closure.
In the accompanying drawings, I have shown one embodiment of the invention. Tn this showing:

Figure 4 is a diagrammatic, plan View showing the manner in which the inner post is formed.
Referring to the drawings, the reference numeral l designates the outer post ot a vehicle window. As shown, a Tesection of metal may be employed to form the outer post, but metal ot other shapes may also be employed it' desired. A resilient, pre-- formed member 3 is secured to the outer post to form the inner post. The pre-formed member consists ot' side sections 4, terming a substantially rectangular body portion. At one side of the body portion, the resilient metal is extended inwardly, as at 5, and then laterally, as at 6. The resilient metal is further provided with outwardly extending portions 7 parallel tothe inwardly extending portion 5, forming a groove 8 which serves as a guide for the window curtain. of the outwardly extending sections 7 are connected by a section 8, which may be curved or shaped in any manner to produce an ornamental effect. The ends ot the resilient metal are extended inwardly from the sections 4f, as indicated at ll, and the extreme end portions l2 are arranged adjacent the opposite faces ot the outer post. The end sections and the outer post form grooves 13, serving as sash guides and suitable sash trames llt are arranged therein. These t'ames arev adapted to contain the glass 15. 'At suitable intervals, bolts, screws or other fastening elements 16 are passed through the formed metal member and the iiller strip into the outer post.
In Figure 4t of the drawings, the method ot forming the inner post is shown. A flat sheet of metal is first bent to form the portions 5, 6, 7', 11 and l2, and they central portion ot the sheet is then rolled as shown in dotted lines to torni the inner' tace `8.
Particular attention is called to the tact that the resilient, formed member of the post has no motion longitudinally of the car but may be adjusted toward the outer tace of the car by means ot bolts 16 to torce the sash tightly against the outer post and term a weather-prooi seal. The loose ends 12 ot the resilient metal further serve as la weather-prooi seal between the sash and the outer post;
It is to be understood that the term ot' the invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape, size, and arrangement of parts may be. resorted to without departing from the spirit ot the invention or the scope of the subjoined claims.
l claim:
1. A window trame comprising an outer post, an inner post member formed of resilient metal arranged adjacent said outer post, said inner post being shaped to :torm curtain guides and being adapted to cooperate with said outer post to term a sash guide, and fastening means passing through said inner post and engaging said outer post member to permit regulation of the size of said sash guide.
2. A window frame comprising an. outer post,- an inner post member formed of resilient metal arranged adjacent said outer post, said inner post being; shaped to form curtain guides and being adapted to ooperate with said outer post `to form a sash"guide,` and fastening means passlng through said inner Post and engaging Said Outer pest ,member to permit regulation of the size oi said sash guide, the ends ofV said resilient member` be-I ing,` arranged in the sash guide to forni a Weather istrip.
3. A Window frame comprising' an outer post, a resilient inner post comprising a sheet of metal shaped to forni a substantially rectangular body portion, the intermediate portion of said resilient` member beingshai .ed to for-m a` bead providing grooves for the reception 'of a Window curtain, the ends of said member being arranged in e intact with said .outer post forming Weather strips for the sashl` and means. for fasteningisaid resilient member and said outerpost to each other.
4. A Window frame comprising an outer post, an inne-1' post Comprising a sheet of resilient metal shaped to form a substantial-- ly rectangular body portion, the inner side for the sash, and means for fastening said inner post and said outer post to each other.
