Description

1927' s. RADLOWSKI WINDOW FASTENING DEVICE Filed March 23, 1927 SEE;
- INVENTOR ATTORNEY Z HE.
Patented on. 4, 1927.
STANLEY RADLOWSKI, OF WARD, WEST VIRGINIA.
WINDOW-FASTENING DEVICE.
Application filed March 23, 1927. Serial No. 177,588.
This invention relates generally to windows, and has more particular reference to.
The invention has for an object the provi- I sion of improved means for securing window panes into frames, which is eflicient in action, and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost. For further comprehension of the inventi'on, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to' the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the'invention are more particularly set forth.
I Referring to the drawing forming a material part of this disclosure:
Fig. 1 is a fragmentary rear view of a window constructed with the invention device. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary enlarged view of a portion of Fig. 1. I
Fig.3 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line .3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig.4 is a viewsimilar to Fig.3 but of a modified form of the invention.
Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 55 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 6 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view taken on the line 66 of Fig. 2.
The reference numeral 10 indicates a window frame, and 11 a window pane associated therewith. Strips of resilient material 12, preferably made of rubber and being of triangular cross-section engage in the corners formed by: the pane 11 and, frame 10. Other strips of' material 13, preferably of metal, cover the strips 12. The strips 12 are formed with recesses 14 at certain portions along their lengths, and strips 13are formed with apertures 15 aligned with the recesses.
Projecting from the strips 13 are tongues 16 housed in the recesses 14, and rollers 17 are su ported in the recesses 14 between a P 0? t g e h of t e r ll The customary old 17 are formed with an aperture 18, and na1ls 19 pass through these apertures at any desirable tilt, obtaining by turning the rollers, and thereafter the nails are driven through the strips 12 into the frame 10. .5" Thus the window pane is securelyheld in place in the frame, and the rubber strips 12 act to form a waterproof joint, desirable inasmuch as rain cannot"pass.---Q,
The nails 19 engage the'rollers 17 inplace, and the rollers being attached to strips 13, hold the strips, which in turn hold the other strips 12. The rollers' 17 are turnably mounted, and the nails 19 passed through the apertures 18 of the rollers may be quick- 1y driven into the frame 10 at any tilt.
In the modification ofthe invention illustrated in Fig. 4 the strip 13' is narrower than the strip 12', and furthermore, is embedded tlierein. 7
While I have illustrated and described my invention with some degree of particularity,
I realize that in practice various alterations therein may be made. I theref re reserve the right and privilege of changin the form of the details of construction or otherwise .altering thearrangement of the correlated paits without departin from the spirit or the scope of the appen ed claims.
Having thus described my invention, what 8.0
I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is: 1. In combination with a window frame and associated window pane,a stri of mate-:
rial adapted for engagement in t e. corners formed by the frame and pane, another strip) of material on the said strip, the first mentioned "strip being recessed at certain portions along its length, the second mentioned fstrip being formed with apertures aligned with W the recesses, tongues projecting from the second mentioned stri into the recesses, a. roller supported in eac recess between a air of the tongues, each roller being1 forme with C an aperture, and nails guide through the last mentioned apertures, and forced into the first mentioned strip and the window frame.
2 A device for securing a pane in place in a window frame, comprising a resilient strip of m terial adapted f r eng gem nt the corners formed b the frame and pane, recesses, and aroller supported in each reanothe'r strip of rein orcing material on the cess between the tongues,' the said rollers W said strip, the first mentioned strip being being formed with apertures. l0
recessed at certain portions, the second men-' In testimony whereof I have aflixed my 5 tioned strip being formed with apertures signature. T
