Abstract
308,042. Short, H. O. Feb. 10, 1928. Bodies.-In road vehicles the frame members are constructed in channel form with their edges bent or doubled over inwardly to form hook-like edges over which the panels, constructed with turned-over edges, are caused to engage and to become locked in position by the contraction of the channels of the frame members. The channel frame members A are provided with beaded edges A<1> with which engage the turned-over edges of the panels B and a beaded strip C interposed. The sides of the channel are contracted by a bolt D to lock the panels B and strip C. As shown in Fig. 5 the frame member A is of triangular form and the sides, of the member A are contracted so that the panels B become locked by contact. The channel frame members may comprise a base of a wooden strip to which parallel sides comprising metal strips may be secured.
