UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HANS TRAUERNIO'HT, OF KIEL-GAARDEN, GERMANY.
COMPENSATED ALTERNATING-CURRENT COMMUTATOR MOTOR WITH REVERSIBLE DIRECTION OF ROTATION.
Application filed October 6, 1924. Serial No. 742,030.
To aZZ whom it may canoe m:
Be it known that I, IIANs TRAUERNICHT, a citizen of the German Republic, residing at Kiel-Gaarden, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Compensated Alternating-Current Commutator Motors with Reversible Direction of Rotation, of which the following is a specification.
In compensated alternating-current commutator motors for singleor three-phase current, which have different brush positions for rotation to the right or to the left, a clear and definite indication of the correct position of the brush rocker is necessary.
For this purpose the brush rocker is pro vided with two blade like extensions bearing signs indicating the direction of the rotation of the motor, which are arranged at a distance from each other corresponding to the angle of brush displacement, while the stationary part of the motor possesses a window, behind which the signs of the brush rocker become visible only when th brush rocker is in the correct position either for the rotation to the right or for the rotation to the left. In all other positions of the brush rocker the signs remain invisible.
In the accompanying drawing an alter mating-current commutator motor, provided With such an indicating device is represented:
Fig. 1 shows the motor in front elevation, and
Fig. 2 in side elevation, partially in section.
A portion of the casing of the motor is apertured at a on the side where the brush rocker b is arranged, while the latter carries two blade-like extensions 0, upon which 1. In compensated alternating current commutator motors with reversible direction of rotation, the combination with the shiftable brush rocker of two blade-like extensions displaced apart a distance equal to the brush displacement and bearing directlon signs, and means on the motor casing wherewith one or other of said extensions is adapted to register when the brush rocker is in position for correct running in the direction indicated by said registering extenslon.
2. In compensated alternating-current commutator motors with reversible direction of rotation, the combination of a shiftable brush-rocker, two blade-like extensions on said rocker, each of them carrying a sign indicating the direction of rotation in opposite senses, and an apertured portion in the casing enclosing the brush rocker behind which upon shifting the said rocker into the correct position that extension of the brush rocker is visible which bears the sign indicating the desired direction of rotation.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature.
HANS TRAUERNICHT.
