o. REiNH-AR'DT SHADE AND CURTAIN BRACKET Filed May 16 1924 Zlwuentoz Patented Aug. 18, 1925.
srAras PATENT -or-F 1c OTTO REINHARDT,--OF -CENTRALFALLS, RHODE ISLAND.
SHADE AND G URTAIN BRACKET.
Application filed May is, 1924. Serial N6. 713,763.
, and State of Rhode Island, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shade and Curtain Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in shade and curtain brackets and the primary object thereof is to provide a simple and economical bracket which can be easily produced and which can also be easily and quickly and also effectively secured to the window frame.
A further object of the invention is to provide a bracket which is reversible and wherein the shade carrier is readily adjusta le.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a bracket of this type wherein the same is secured to a side edge of the window frame, and wherein such securing means is concealed by the curtain rod support.
The invention has still further and other objects which will be later herein more specifically recited and manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings Figure 1, is a top plan view of the invention applied in position, the window frame, shade and curtain rods being shown in dotted lines.
Figure 2, is a front elevation of the invention in detached position, and
Figures 3 and 4 are sections on line 38 and 4it, of Figure 1, respectively.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention a base plate or member 1 is employed of substantially T-shape, the shank 2 of which is offset as indicated at 3 so as to dispose the shank from the front face of the window frame when the base is secured thereto. The head 4 is formed with a centrally located and struck-out ear 5, the ear being formed by making parallel slits in the head, with the slits extending through the free outer end edge of the head and then bending the ear to lie at right angles to the plane of the base plate. The ear has a screw or other fastening receiving opening 6 so as to engage the ear to the side edge of the window frame, while the base plate has a 'simi lar opening 7 to receive a similar fastening for securing the base plate to the front face of a window frame.
A slidable and frictionally held shade carrier 8 is mounted on the shank 2 by means of clamping members 9 which embrace opposite sides of the shank, the clamping arms or members being formed integral with the 1 carrier 8 and disposed at right angles to the plane thereof. The clamping arms or members are formed by the ends of a body 10, the latter being bowed outwardly at 11 so as to strengthen the body 10.
A plate 12 is secured by bolts 13, in slots 13 formed in the arms 12, of the head 4, the plate 12 being disposed to overlie the opening of the head resultant from the formation of the ear 5. Curtain rod supports 14 are centrally carried by the plate 12 to support rods R for inner and outer draper ies or curtains.
From the above it will be seen that an exceedingly simple andeconomical structure is produced, and one wherein the parts are compactly related. The head 4 functions to not only provide the securing ear 5, but also means of support for the curtain rod holder 12.
The entire structure is bodily reversible so as to enable same to be applied to either side of the window frame, in which regard it will be noted that the curtain rod supports 14:, are circular in cross-section and operate in either the position depicted in thedrawings or in reversed position. 7
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a shade and curtain bracket, a substantially T-shaped base the head of which is provided witha pair of spaced longitudinal arms disposed in substantially the plane of the base and formed to extend beyond the. side edge of the window frame, an integral ear on the base disposed between the arms and being perforated and extending rearwardly of the head to form a securing ear which latter is disposed intermediate the inner and outer sides of the head, a curtain rod supporting member disposed over the arms and the'space therebetween and concealing the ear, means to secure the member to each of the arms, and a shade carrier connected to the shank of the base.
2. A shade and curtain bracket including a base having spaced arms at one end thereof disposed in substantially the plane of the base and formed to extend beyond the side edge of the window frame, an integral ear on the base disposed between the arms and extending rearwardly at an angle to form a securing ear which latter is located at a spaced distance inwardly oi the outer ends of the arms, a shade carrier on the base, a
curtain rod carrier engaged with the arms and disposed over the same and over the 10 space between the arms and concealing the ear, and means to connect the curtain rod carried to the arms.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
OTTO REINHARDT.
