UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIGE.
ROBERT B. TAYLOR, OF FORT HOWARD, WISCONSIN.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOWEL-RACKS.
Specification formingpart of Letters Patent No. 154,966., dated September 15, 1874; application filed June 8, 1874.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT B. TAYLOR, of Fort Howard, in the county of Brown and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Towel-Racks, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of the present invention consists in a roller pivoted to a jointed bracket, which allows the roller to be swung out from a wall or frame, for placing a towel thereon or removing it. The opposite end of the roller is supported by a jointed spring -bracket, which, when turned outward, releases the end of the roller, that it may swing out from a'wall, as above stated, and both brackets being attached to a suitable cleat, makes the device portable, compact, and convenient.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of my improvement in towel-racks with a towel shown on the roller. Fig. 2 a plan or top view thereof.
A represents a cleat, which is made of wood or other suitable material, and provided with screw-holes, to be fastened to a wall, and it supports the devices hereinafter described. B represents an ordinary roller, on which a towel, G, is to be hung, and which is pivoted to a bracket, H, by means of a screw, L, or other suitable means. This bracket is jointed to a bridge, N, at O G, and the bridge is fastis j ointed to said bridge a bracket, E E, which is provided with an outwardly-projecting seat, D,
to support one end of a coil-spring, F, the othor end of the spring being supported by a seat, M, fastened to the bridge M back of the seat D. The bridges N are made of two parts, each overlapping one another at the place of contact. This is done that the pivots 0, cast solid to the brackets E E, may be placed in holes drilled or cast in them. The bracket E E is provided with a catch that embraces the pivot a, dotted lines, of the roller, and the arrangement is such that when the bracket is turned on its pivots, as indicated by dotted lines a, the roller at that end will be released for placing a towel thereon or removing a towel.
I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States.
The roller B and bridges N N, in combination with the brackets H E and spring F, as described and set forth.
