IMPROVEMENT IN HOLDERS FOR TRIMMINGS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.154,825, dated September 8, 1874; application filed April 28, 1874. i

.of cards, boards, or plates, of approximate triangular form, with shoulders or depressions on their edges, upon which the fabric is wound, said cards or boards being hinged together at their upper ends to allow of their lower ends being separated and stood on end to display the fabric, and provided with stops to prevent the cards from being folded together so closely as to injure the fabric by crushing the same between the inner sides of the cards. The invention consists, further, in the combination, with the cards, of a box or case for holding the same when packed for storage or transportation, said box being provided with ribs for engagement with the lower ends of the cards, to hold them in place and prevent crushing of the fabric on the outer sides of the cards.

7 In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective View, representing the cards in an elevated position in the box or case. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section, showing the cards folded and packed in the box.

A A represent two cards, boards, or plates, of approximate triangular form, having shoulders or depressions aformed in their edges, around which the trimming, ruffle, or other fabric is wound, so as to display it in tiers, one

above another, as shown in Fig. 1. The upper ends of the cards or boards are joined together by a hinge, which may be made of cloth pasted or. otherwise secured to the cards. At the upper and lower portions of the cards, on the inner sides, are blocks 1), which serve as stops to prevent the cards from being folded so closely as to crush the fabric on the inner sides. At the extreme upper ends of the cards or boards are flanged heads 0, attached to said ends at right angles thereto, so that when the cards are folded and laid on its side the flange will prevent crushing of the fabric.

The box or case D may be made of cardboard, or any other suitable material, of a size corresponding with the greatest dimensions of the cards. One side of the box is hinged to the bottom, so that it may be let down, and to its inner surface are attached two ribs, d d.

When the cards are folded and packed in the box their lower ends are held between the ribs d, and prevented from separating, and thus the ribs and the flanges prevent crushing 'of the fabric on the outside of "the cards.
