Be it known that I, GEORGE RUSSELL,

a citizen of the United States, residing at Florence, in the county of'Lauderdale and State of Alabama, have invented a new and useful Ironing Board, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has reference to ironing boards or tables, the primary object of the invention being to provide a combined ironing board and table, thestructure being such as to permit the supporting legs thereof to be readily folded to a position in proximity to the ironing board to require the minimum amount of space in storing.

Another object of the inventionv is to provide supporting legs of a construction wherein pressure on the ironing board will tend to create a binding action between the leg sections to lend rigidity to the structure.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope ofwhat is claimed, with-' any suitable material and provided with pairs of spaced ears 6 arranged on the un' der side of the table 5.

legs7 thereto. At'the'free endsof the 7 is secured a brace. bar 9'rwhich,.together with'the brace bar 10 disposed-substantially intermediate the "ends of the legs: 7,:ho1ds the legs 7 in proper spaced relation with each other.

Legs 11 also have their inner ends pivotally supported between the ears 6 and held therebetween "by means of the pins 8, .the outer or free ends of the legs ll being securedin proper'spaced relation'with respect to each other by means-of the brace bars 12. A brace bar 13 is disposed substantially intermediate the ends of the legs 11 and hold the legs against movement withrespect to each other at this point.

As shown, these legs 11 are relatively long a as compared with the legs 7 and are designed to extend-at angles with respect to the table 5,;the lower outer edges of the legs 11 being beveled to properly engage thesurface on which the table is supported.

Cooperating withthe' brace bar 10 are the pivoted bars 14 that are held in proper V spaced relation at their outer ends, by means of the bar 15 disposed therebetween, the inner, ends of the bars 14 being connected as shown by Figure 2 of the drawing and adapted to engage the under surface of the table5.. I

These. bars 14 have pivotal connection with the legs 11, as by means of the rod '16 so that movement of the legs 11 Will be transmitted to the bars 14. A pair of spaced ears 17 are also secured to the under side of the table 5, and between the cars 17 is positioned a link 18 that has pivotal connection with the bars 14 as at 19.

' Formedin the bars 14 at points adjacent to the free ends thereof, are notches 20that accommodate one edge of the bracing bar 10 so that pressure on the table 5 will result in a movement of the bars 14 .to create a binding action between the bars 14 and bracing bar 10, to insure againstcmovement of the legs with respect to the table.

.In order that theleg members may be held in their folded positions, the leg members 7 that overlie the leg members 11 and bars 14, are 6 provided with a hook member 21 adapted to be positioned in the keeper 22 secured to the under surface I of the table 5. Due to this construction it y will be noted that Whenthe l g of the ir ning table are moved, to their folded positions, it is impossible for the legs to accidentally; swing toan open position.
