In detail, the stripper comprises a member roughly formed in the shape of a shoe and consists of side walls made of leather or othersuitable flexible fabric 1 and 2, and end walls 3 and 4. In the preferred form of the invention, each of the side and end walls are constructed of a single strip of accordance with. the inven fabricor leather joined along the rear end of wall 4. This partition member is located at the forward end of the fiat portions 12 of the feed fingers and serves in etfect to term a (381th partment at the rear of the stripper tor the reception of the nails to be employed. From the partition to the delivery end or the stripper the feed fingers are, as previously explained, dished and are formed concave in cross section, as best illustrated in Figure 5, to provide for a ready delivery oi the nail shanks into the longitudinal spaces between the finger along the bottom o t the stripper. This conca. formation of the fingers provides grooves along the under face of the stripper allowing for rear y application of the fingers of the user in drawing the nails from the stripper. The pocket is carried across the chest of the user means o1 body straps 19 arranged in any desired manner so as to support the stripper in the most convenient position.

y In operation, the stripper is adjusted in position across the chest of the user, and by reason of the configuration ot the one side 2 it will lie firmly in position. The nails to be used are then poured into the compartment at the rear end of the stripper from which they will be fed down into the dished portion of the bottom of the stripper underneath the partition 17. By reason of the concave cross sectional configur tion of the feed fingers, the shanks of the nails will be guided into the spaces between the fingers and the nails will hang down from the stripper in the position illustrated in Figures 1 and 5. By applying the fingers to the bottom of the stripper the shanks of the nails may be grasped and drawn towards the delivery end of the stripper, from which they may be taken from beneath the flap 16. The upward curvature of the delivery end of the stripper and the depending flap 16 will prevent any accidental displacement of the nails from within the stripper.

While I have illustrated and described certain details and materials entering into the construction and operation of the invention, I desire it to be understood that I do not intend to limit the invention to such as are disclosed, but that any changes and mod ifications may be made therein as will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed.

I claim:

1. A portable nail stripper comprising a receptacle having a slotted bottom formed of a plurality of longitudinally disposed fingers, and spacing members removably posiills tioned in certain portions of said slots to permit the width of the slots to be varied.

2. A portable nail stripper comprising a receptacle having a bottom formed of a plurality of longitudinally disposed fingers, spacing members interposed between sections of adjacent portions of said fingers in transverse alinement, and removable fasterr ing means, for clamping said fingers and spacing members in assembled position.

3. A portable nail stripper comprising a receptacle including a substantially fiat rigid bottom formed of a plurality of longitudinally disposed laterally spaced fingers, means for permitting the space between the fingers to be varied which increases or decreases the lateral width of thebottom, and the side and end walls of said receptaclebeing formed of a single" piece of flexible material secured to the edge of saidbottom whereby variation of lateral width of said bottom is permitted.

4. A portable nail stripper comprising a receptacle having closed side walls, a bot tom for said receptacle, consisting of a plurality of transversely spaced longitudinally disposed members, one end of said receptacle being open to provide a delivery end therefor, spacing members adapted to be disposed between said first named members for regulating the width of the spaces therebetween, means for clamping said first named members and spacing members in assembled relation, and means in said receptacle for causing the shanks of nails to move downwardly into the spaces between saidfirst name-d members.

5. A portable nail stripper comprising a nail holding receptacle, a plurality of transversely spaced longitudinally disposed fingers disposed on the bottom of said receptacle, certain of said fingers terminating short of one end wall topro vide a delivery end for said receptacle, means for spacing said fingers, means for clamping said fingers in assembled relation, said fingers being curved upwardly toward the delivery end of said receptacle to prevent accidental dislodgment of nails from within the receptacle, a partition member in said rece tacle and means for su ortin said 7 b receptacle on the body of the user. 7,

6. A portable nail stripper comprising a receptacle having closed side and end walls, 7

a slotted bottom formed of a plurality of longitudinally extending laterally spaced fingers, spacing members positioned between said fingers at one end of the bottom and forming a closed end therefor, and a trans verse partition in said receptacle disposed over the slots adjacent the closed end of the bottom to cause the shanks of the nails in said closed end to enter the slots.
