ing and Diving Game, of'which the following is a specification. c
The inventlon relates to a new and useful racing and diving game as described in the present specificatlon and illustrated in the accompanylng drawings wh ch form part of V the same.
The invention consists essentially of the novel features of construction pointed out broadly and specifically in the claims for novelty following an explanation in detail of an acceptable form of the invention.
The objects of the invention are to bring forth for the general use of the public a game that will be both amusing and instructive, at the same timeattractive in appearance compact in form; to provide a game dissimilar from the well-known and old games, awakeningthepopularity of this line and adapted to be installed in amusement parks, exhibitions and other public places of amusement, and generally to provide a device durable in construction, cheap in manufacture and efficient as a commercial value.

A pulley 16 and gear 17 are secured tothefupper part of the shaft 9 above the frame" 11. from which the driving belt or cable 18iScO 1I ected to the brake and winding apparatus. v The vertical shaft 10 has at top-and bottom gears 20 and 19respectively,,meshing with the gears13 and 17 of the shaft 9.
a, The brake and winding apparatus comprises a main shaft 21 which passes through as many of the machines as required, each machine irrespective of one another having ,a pulley wheel 22 loosely secured to the main shaft 21 and around which the driving belt 1 8 is secured. Toeach pulley wheel a drum in 23 is connected and operated thereby'for' winding and unwinding the cable 24 which controlling the movements of the doll. The construction. of the game itself comprises two pieces of sheet metal used as jtracks and guide ways 25 and 26. 1 These tracks are curved in such a way asis. suit- :able for theagame, while a stairway 27 is made on one side of the trackway 26 to give the appearance of the doll 28 mounting the steps while itis being pulled up by the cable 24. t. Y v g The cable 24 is secured at one end to the drum 23 and runs tangent thereto to the full length of the machine. Itthen changes its course vertically upwards to the trackway 26, encircles a pulley 29, thence to a pulley 30 and from there downwardly through a guide passage 31 and secured to, a spring carriage 32., v t 1 Situated below the stairway and a little to one side, a tank of water 33 is located, formed of an elongated shape, and having a runway 34 thereto. a a
The spring carriage 32 is composed of a fiat metal side 35havingfour pulley wheels 36, 37 38 and 39 formingaguideway 40 for the guide passage 31. spring 41 is held by the metal strip 42 at the top of the flat metal side 35, and having a catch 43 projecting therefrom, the cable 24 being secured to the spring carriage at 44. v
This spring carriag is adaptable to be pulled to the topmost position of the machine, that is at pulley 30, where a block 45' is located to prevent the spring carriage from further progress. The spring carriage then returns to its former position at the ,bottom ofthe steps, automatically winding The d011 carn ge comprises a resting spring'tdfor the doll QS-anda guide space 47, formed by the pulley wheels 48; 49', 50 and 51 for the trackwvay 26;;Awsteadying guide member 52 is formed for the lower trackway 25, While a curved' shaft"53 and wheel 54 is situated atthe lovver portion of the doll carriage and -is-used "forthe downward descent only when it. slides into the ide-"way 3%.
