Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed February 2, 1920. Serial N0. 355,836.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM DANNER, a citizen of the Republic of Germany, residing at Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mechanical Toys, of which the following 1S a specification.
The object I a new and improved form of mechanlcal toy or motor.
This and other objects of the invention will be fully illustrated in the drawings, described in the specification and pointed out in the claims at the end thereof.

The figure is a side elevation of the toy, part of the wheel being broken away.
In the drawings, indicate like parts.
This toy has a base 1 and an upright back 2 thereon on which are located two runways for balls, the runways'being numbered 3 and 1. At the lower end of the runway 3 and the upper end of the runway 1 is located a wheel 5 having a series of recesses, preferably three in number, which recesses are indicated by the reference numerals 6, 7 and 8. On the wheel is a pulley 9 having a grooved periphery in which engages the cord belt 10. The wheel 5 and the pulley 9 are mounted to rotate on an axle 11, the
upright 12 being provided to support one end of the axle, the other end of the axle being supported in the back 2 of the structure. At the top of the toy is provided a gable like structure 13 in which is mounted a shaft 14 on which is mounted to rotate a wind mill 15. On the shaft of the wind mill is a pulley over which the belt 10 runs and by which it is driven.
The runway 3 is adapted to receive steel balls which roll down it by gravity and are fed one at a time into the recesses of the wheel 5. Over the wheel 5 is placed a guard 16 which is far enough from the wheel to permit only one ball at a time to engage with the recesses of the wheel and the guard holds these balls in place as they travel around with the wheel. On the under side of the wheel the runway 4 extends up around the wheel as indicated at 17 and of this invention is to provide like reference numerals 1 forms a guard which continues to hold the balls in engagement with the wheel so that because of these guards the balls will remain. in engagement with the wheel for about one half of the revolution and will be discharged from the wheel when they have dropped a distance equal to the diameter of the wheel.
Pivotally mounted at 20 is a see-saw 21 on which two children are pictured as seated so that the board may rock up and down with them in the usual manner of see-saws. Pending from the see-saw and rigid therewith is the pendulum 22 having a weight 23 on the bottom thereof, which swings with, the see-saw. This pendulum acts as a lever or crank which is engaged by the balls as they roll down the runway 4 and is caused to rock thereby.
The wind mill 15 acts as a damper on the wheel 5 so that it does not rotate at a high rate of speed but will rather rotate at a uniform velocity and the see-saw will be caused. to be rocked by the balls somewhat in synchronism with the blades of the wind mill.
I claim:
1. A motor wheel adapted to be driven by weigl'its, pockets in said wheel to receive the weights, a runway at the top of the wheel. to feed balls tosaid pocket for the purpose of rotating the wheel, a runway leading away from the bottom of the wheel to receive the balls from said pockets, a pendulum suspended over said runway adapted to be rocked by the balls discharged from the wheel.
2. A motor wheel. adapted to be driven by weights, pockets in said wheel to receive the weights, a runway at the top of the wheel to feed balls to said pocket for the purpose of rotating the wheel, a runway leading away from the bottom of the wheel to receive the balls from said pockets, a pendulum suspended over said runway adapted to be rocked by the balls discharged from the wheel, a teeter board rigidly connected to said pendulum and oscillating therewith.
