Beit'knownthat I, HERMAN BRowN', a citizen of the United States, residing at Ohicage, in the county of Gookaiid State of Illinois,have invented new and useful Improvements in Mops, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in mopsand more particularly to an oil mop. "The main objec t'of the present invention being the provision of a fountain oil mop which is'easily adapted for use in oiling and polishing floors, woodwork, furniture or the like, and in addition it is polished or dried so as to produce a 1 polished. surface upon the articles being operated upon. j'- A further object of myfpresent invention is theprovisionof a fountain'oil mop which includes a; receptacle havinga plurality-of outlet openings, 'with means for controlling the flow "of liquid from the receptacle through said openings, together. with an applying p ad'arranged over the openlngs to absorb the liquid in the receptacle so asto properly apply the same to the articles being" operated upon and further in addition a polished cloth is attached to the i receptacle in such a manneras to engage the articles being operated upon to dry or polish the same.

The flow of liquid from the receptacle body out through the openings is readily controlled by the operator through the adjustment of the bolt 28 to move the stopper plate 21 toward and away from the bottom portion 6. When it is desired to release an amount of liquid through the openings 20 the adjusting nut 32 is rotated by grasping the serrated flange 33 and rotating the bolt 28 which through its adjustment with the nut 34 will move outwardly through the opening and raise the stopper plate 21 from engagement With the bottom portion 6. After the proper amountof liquid has been absorbed by the pad 36 the stopper plate 21 is again moved toward the bottom portion 6 to close the openings 20.
It will be apparent from the above that I have provided a simple and eflicient fountain o-il mop wherein the body may be readily filled with any desired polishing liquid and the mop used for a considerable length of time before renewing the supply of liquid within the receptacle. In this way the rate source for oiling or polishing various surfaces.
Having thus described my invention What I claim is 2- A mop including a container body having openings in the bottom thereof, a closure plate hingedly connected to the bottom at one side of the container and adapted to normally close said openings, an attaching plate secured to the upper face of the first plate having its intermediate portion provided With a bulge forming a socket having an opening, an adjusting bolt carried by the top of the body, a head on the lower end of the bolt arranged within the socket for loosely connecting the bolt with the first plate and means for adjusting the bolt relatlve to the top of the container whereby to move the first plate into position for closing said openings or out of position for permitting liquid from the container to pass through said openings.
