My invention relates to mops and more particularly to mopy swabs adapted lor attachment to mop heads that are provided with means of receiving and distributing a liquid for the treatment of iioors.

ln accomplishing my purpose l lprovide as an element ot the mop head, an elongated shallow pan in which the adjustable head4 olf a mop handle is positioned; mop swab element constructed on two pouches or mittens ot duck or like fabric designed to be drawn over the laterally extending parts of the pan, straps having grommets tor engagement with a projecting screw provided in the handle head, and a wing nut on the screw to establish the engagement of the grommeted straps with the handle head to hold the paired elements ot the mop swab on the mop head pan. Openings in the upper sides or" the pouches are provided through which the liquidmay be poured into the pan.

My arrangement and construction and the particular advantages thereof will be more particularly and explicitly detailed in the description in which reference will be made to the accompanying drawings in which:

The swab element consti" .tes an important feature of my present invention. lt will be observed that the pan element ot' the head, and the meanso" attachment to a handle, are similar to the same elements in my application, I amv providing herewith, however, substantial variations in the -construction of the mop swab and means ot attachingthe swabto the mop head as distinguished'from my invention referred to, and constituting improvements thereon.-

l provide paired 'mop swab pouches or mittens designated l0 and consisting'of the mop fabric or cords 11 which as illustrated consists of tufts secured .to the cloth bases of a pouch designated 12-and which might i ya central vertical opening 14 suitably reinforced as at 15. VThe back .of a mitten has a cutaway portion indicated at 16 whereby the mitten is tltted to the handle block. A strap 17 is suitably secured to the back of a mitten and is provided with a. grommet 13 .in its .tree end for fastening the mitten to the handle block.

In assembling the device the two pouches are drawn over the ends ot the pan, vthe cutaway portion 16 of the pouches providing for fitting of the upper sides ot the pouches around the handle block head and the close contact ot the meeting edges of the mop swab mittens so that the depend'- ing fabric will otter a surface ot unity, a condition idealized in the depending fringe as shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The straps 17 are adapted by length to lap when the pouches are joined for extending the grommets over the screw 7 the wing nut Q being twirled on the screw and pressing the grommets and so enabling the straps to hold the pouches of the mop swab in position on the pan.

What l claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

l. A mop comprising a liquid distributing pan, a handle. attached to the pan and a swab member enclosing` thc pan and comprising paired pouches having openings for admission of liquid, mop fabric attached to said pouches and straps secured to said pouches and securing the swab element to the handle.

2. A mop con'iprising a liquid receiving pan having outflow openings, a handle engaged with the pan and a swab `elen'ient including paired pouches to enclose said pan, and means of securing the pouches on the pan.

Amop comprising` a liquid receiving pan having outflow openings and a handle secured to said pan adjacent its central portion, and a swab elementcomprising paired pouches, the pouches having openings in their upper sides, a mop fabric secured to said pouches, a stud on the handle, straps provided with grommets engageable with the stud, and means whereby the pouches are secured together and to the pan.

a. A mop comprising` a liquid receiving pan having outflow openings in its vertical sides and a handle centrally seated in said pan and secured thereto, and a swab element comprising paired pouches with mouths laterally opposed for reception of the pan and upper lips cut away and having openings in the upper walls adjacent said cut away lips, the openings and the lips being reinforced with stitching, and straps secured to said pouches and having free ends, and means removably securing the straps to the handle.

5. A mop con'iprising a. rectangular cup ped perfor-ate head constituting a distributor, a handle attached to the head and swab elements including paired pouches to receive the ends of the head and means for securing the pouches on the head.

6. A mop comprising a head, a handle, means for securing the handle to the head, paired swab elements for receiving the ends of the head, and straps on the swab elements having means to engage the swab elements with the handle securing means.

7. A mop comprising a head, a stud carried by the head, swab elements including paired pouches for receiving the ends of the head, and straps secured to` the pouches and engageable with the stud for securing the pouches on the head. A mop comprising a head, a threaded stud carried by the head, swab elements comprising paired pouches for covering the head, straps secured to the pouches, openings'in the ends ofthe straps to be received by the stud, and a nut threaded on the stud to retain the straps.
