' To all whom it may concern i class, 1n a manner as hereinafter set forth,
with means for not only constituting a polisher for hardwood floors, but to further constitute a dust collector.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the class referred to, 1n a manner as hereinafter set forth, with a flexible and detachable polishing member formed of absorbent material capable of being saturated with oil so as to adapt the same foruse as a dust collector, and as a wood polisher, and to further provide a device with an oil supply for feeding oil vto i the polishing member when using the device.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the lclass referred to, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, having a foldable polishing member formed of absorbent material capable of being detachably connected and presenting a large mopping, dusting or polishing area, and which permits of the detachment of the various parts comprising the device permitting of any damaged part thereof being removed and a perfect one substituted, thereby avoiding the necessity of purchasing an entirelyl new device.
Further objects ofthe invention are to provide a polishing device which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, efficient and convenient. in its use, readily set up and inexpensive.
With thel foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the novelk construction, combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto ap ended.

Referring to Figs. 1 to 6 of the drawings, 1 denotes a circular head having a depending annular iange 2 provided with an opening 3 having the wall thereof screw threaded, and further provided with radial lugs 3a. The head1 is concavo-convex and is provided at a point removed from the center of said head with an angularly disposed tubular socket member 4 which has the inner walls thereof screw threaded, as at 5 to receive the end of an operatingV handle or rod 6.
The polishing member used in connection with the head l comprises a case or two strips of fabric 7 and 8, the latter being of a greater Width than the former. The inner side of the case has eyes 7a to receive the lugs 3a. Arranged between the strips of fabric 7 and 8 are strands 9 of a suitable absorbent material. v These strands are arranged transversely of the strips of material 7 and 8 with their respective extremities projecting from the longitudinal edgesof the strips. The strands of absorbent material are retained between the strips 7 and 8 by stitching 10 or other fastening means an the strips 7 "and 8 are adapted to be folded longitudinally of their length, as shown in Fig. 4 thereby forming a case that holds the ends or extremities of the strands together somewhat in the form ofy a brush. e
The strands 9 terminate at points removed from the ends of the case formed by the strips of fabric 7 and 8 andthe ends of the case are pro-vided with eyes 1l and 12. The case supporting the strands 9 is of suiicient length to encircle the periphery of the flange 2 with the ends of the case overlapping, as shown in Fig. 6. A screw 13 having a winged head 14 can then be placed through the eyes 11 and 12 and screwed into the opening 3 for detachably. yet firmly, holding lthe case circumferentlally of the mop head. j

and 8, the same construction of polishing member is employed, so, therefore, it is thought unnecessaryto speciiicallv describe the same, the polishing member shown in Figs. 7 and 8 is indicated by the same reference characters as employed in connection with the polishing member shown in Figs. 1 to 6.
' The difference between the construction shown in Figs. 7 and 8 over that shown in Figs. 1 to 6 is that the modified form includes an oil reservoir forming a part of the head, and` referring to Figs. 7 and 8 in detail, 15 denotes a circular head having a depending annular flange 16 and further provided centrally with an opening 17. Positioned below the head 15 and abutting against the inner face of the flange 16 is K a cup-shaped member 18, which in connection with the head 15 provides an oil reservoir 19. Extending through the opening 17 and engaging with the bottom of the member 18 is a connecting screw 20. The'head of thescrew 20 is countersunk in the opening 17. The head 15 is provided with a tubular socket member 21, having interior threads 22 and which is adapted to receive the lower end of the handle or rod 23. The tubular socket member 21, when the handle 23 is removed, provides a filling opening for the oilvreservoir 19. Extending through the eyes 11-12 of the polishing member, and also through the flange 16 and engaging the member 18, is a screw 13 having a winged head 14. The bottofn of the member 18 is provided with outlet openings 24, which may be of' any diameter desired, and arranged upon the inner face of the bottom of the member 18, is an absorbent pad 25 which retards the discharge of the oil through the openings 24. The pad 25 is arranged .over the openings 24, and preferably conforms in contour to the shape of the bottom of the member 18.
Otherwise than that as stated, the construction disclosed in Figs. 7 and 8 is the sameas that illustrated by Figs. 1 to 6.
What I claim is 1. In a polishing device a circular flanged h ead, a longitudinally folded case arranged circumferentially of said head and provided with eyes, strands of absorbent material arranged within said case transversely thereof whereby the extremities of said strands depend from said head, and means extending through said eyes and engaging said head for holding said case in engagement therewith.
2. A polishing device comprising a flanged head, means attached to and in connection with the .head providing an oil reservoir, said means having an outlet, said head having a threaded socket for coupling a handle thereto, said socket open at each end and constituting a filling opening for said oil reservoir, a case provided with eyes, strands of absorbent material secured to said case, means extending through said eyes for connecting said case to said head, and an absorbent pad arranged within said reservoir over said outlets to retard the discharge from the reservoir.
3. A polishing device comprising a flanged head, means attached to the head to provide in connection therewith an oil reservoir, said means having outlets, a flexible polishing member detachably connected to said head and formed of absorbent material, said head provided with a iilling opening for said reservoir, a handle extending in said filling opening and connected to the head,
and an absorbent pad arranged in sai'd reservoir and positioned over said outlets.
4. A polishing device comprising a flanged head, radially disposed lugs carried by the flange'of said head, apolishing member mounted upon said lugs, means extending through the polishing member and engaging in said flange for detachably connecting the member to the head, and a handle detachably connected to the head.
5. A polishing device comprising a head, provided with a flange, lugs projecting from said flange, a case having the inner side thereof mounted upon said lugs, strands of absorbent material connected to and projecting from said case, means extending through said case vand engaging in said flange for detachably connecting the case to the head, a handle connected to the head, a cup-shapedmember arranged Within the head and constituting an oil reservoir, said member provided with outlets, and an absorbent pad arranged within said member' over said outlets.
