Be it known that I, HENRY ROTH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Two Rivers, in the county of Manitowoc and State of WVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flue Cleaners, of which the following is a specification. 5
This invention relates to flue cleaners, and hasfor its object to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of the class'referred to with means whereby the clogging of the soot, dislodged from the walls of the flue during the cleaning operation, in the cleaner is prevented.
A further object of the invention is to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a device of the class referred to, with a plurality of sets of scraping members, andwith each set arranged in a polygonalshaped group whereby the outer ends of the members of the group at each outer side of the latter will be arranged in horizontal alignment and so disposed, that each outer side .of the group will extend at right angles to an adjacent outer side thereby providing a series of right angularly disposed straight working edges to provide for the operation simultaneously upon'a greater area of the flue Wall than that obtained by the circular or cylindrical form of flue cleaner, and under such conditions facilitating the cleaningoperation. 5. 5

The disk 5, has its upper face at the marginal portion thereof formed throughout with a series of radially extending grooves I 24, the outer end of each terminates at the outer edge of the disk and the inner end thereof opens into a downwardly extending vertical socket 25. f
The disk 7 has its upper face at the mar ginal portion thereof, formed throughout with a series of radially extending grooves 26, arranged out of alignment with respect to the grooves 24 in the disk 5. The outer end of each ofthe grooves 26'terminates at the outer'edge of. the disk 7 and the inner end thereof opens into a downwardly extending vertical socket 27 The disk 6, has its lowerjface at the marginal portion thereof formed throughout with a series of radially extending" grooves 28,arrangedout of alignment with respect to the grooves 24,26. The outer endof each of the grooves 28 terminates at the outer edge of the disk 6 and the inner end thereof opens into an upwardly extending vertical socket29.

'Each set is'in the form of a polygonalshaped group, whereby the outer ends of the members of the group at each outer side of the latter will be arranged in horizontal alignment and so disposed, that each outer side of the group will extend at right angles to an adjacent outer side thereby providing a'series of rightangularly disposed straight working edges whereby each working edge will act throughout during the operation of scraping, that is to say all of the-scraping members formingfa working edge will be active;
Each of the scraping members of each set is formed from a substantial length of wire of the desired rigidity provided with an inner right angularly disposed inner terminal portion. The wires forming'the scraping members ofthe sets 30, 31 and 32 are indicated at 33,134 and-35, respectively, and the angular end of each wire 33,34 and 35, is indicated at 36, 37 and 38 respectively. The wires 33 are mounted in the grooves 24 and the angular ends 36 thereof in the sockets 25. The wires 34 are positioned in the grooves 26 andthe angular ends 37 thereof in "the sockets 27-, and the wires 35 are mounted in the grooves 28an-d the angular ends-thereof in the sockets 29. 7
V-s'et of socket-s 25, 27 and 29 is arsranged in a circular'row and the wires of ing of the outer ends thereof at each side of a group. The outer ends of each set of wires at each outer side of a group are so shaped whereby the end edges thereof will extend in the same plane.
' The disk 2 clamps the wires 33 to the disk 5. The disk 4 clamps the wires 34 to the disk 7 and the disk 3 clamps wires 35 to the disk 6. The wires 33, 34 and 35 project the desired distance from the disks 5, 6 and 7. The wires at each side of agroup gradually decrease in length from the center wire towards each end wire of a side.
The set 30 isarranged a 'substantial distherefrom one or more spacing disks. "The space between the'sets 30, 31 can be increased by the interposition of one or more spacing disks, and the space between the sets 31", 32 can be increased or diminished by the adding-between or removing from'one'or more of the spacing disks between the disks 6 and 7.
Itis thought that the many advantages of a fine cleaner, in accordance with this invention, can be readily understood, and although the preferred embodiment of the inventionis as illustrated and described, yet it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction can be had which fall ,I
within the scope of the invention as claimed. YVhat I claim -is: r A flue'cleaner comprising an upper, a lower andv an intermediate scraper member group holder disk, a clamping disk abutting each ofsaid holder disks, spacing means betweensaid intermediate and lower disks, a set of scraper members projecting from each of said holder disks and; arranged in'ja poly gonal-shaped group having horizontally disposed outer scraping sides, one disposed at right angles. to the other, and means for detachably clamping said disks secure said sets in position.
2. A flue cleaner comprisingan' upper, a lower and an intermediate scraper member group holder disk, a clamping disk abutting each of said holder disks, spacing meansbetween said intermediate and lower disks, a set of serapermembers projecting from each of-said holder disks and arranged ing-a polygonal-shaped "group having horizontally disposed outer scraping sides, one disposed at rightanglestofthe other, means for detachably clamping said disks together to together to secure said sets inposition, said lower set I spaced a greater distance from-the intermediate set than the upper set from the latter.

A flue cleaner comprising a plurality of spaced scraper member holder disks, a clamping disk abutting each holder disk, a set of scraper members projecting from each holder disk and arranged in a polygonalshaped group having horizontally disposed outer scraping sides, one disposed at right angles to the other, and means for detachably clamping said disks together to secure said sets in position.

A flue cleaner comprising a plurality of spaced scraper member holder disks, a clamping disk abutting each holder disk, a set of scraper members projecting from each holder disk and arranged in a polygonalshaped group having horizontally disposed outer scraping sides, one disposed at right angles to the other, means for detachably 2O clamping said disks togetherto secure said sets in position, each of said holder disks having the marginal portion of one face formed throughout with a series of radial grooves each opening at its inner end in a vertical socket, and said scraping members mounted in said grooves and sockets.
5. A flue cleaner comprising a plurality of spaced scraper member holder disks, a clamping disk abutting each holder disk, a set of scraper members projecting from each holder disk and arranged in a polygonalshaped group having horizontally disposed outer scraping sides, one disposed at right angles to the other, means for detachably clamping said disks together to secure said sets in position, said lower set spaced a greater distance from the intermediate set than the upper set from the latter.
