SAW CLAMP.

Be it known that I, BENJAMIN T. ROBISON, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Bakersfield, in the county of Kern and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Saw Clamps, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention appertains to a saw clamp and has for its prime object to generally improve upon structures of this nature by providing a very simple and efficient device, one which is reliable in Opera ation, inexpensive to manufacture, strong, durable, easy to manipulate, and well adapted to the purpose for which it is,
designed.
A particularly important object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which is capable of supporting a large variety of saws of various sizes.
\Vith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

Referring to the drawing in detail wherein like reference numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views, it will be seen that two base bars 5 are disposed in spaced parallel relation to each other. A post 6 rises from one end of each bar 5 while the other end thereof terminates in an apertured lip 7 through which is threaded a set screw 8. Standards 9 rise from the bars 5 adjacent the apertured lip 7- and intermediate their ends are provided with eX- tensions 10 disposed in parallel spaced relation with; lips 7. At the top ends of the standards 9 there is fixed a jaw 11 which is of an elongated structure being provided with slots 12 in which lit the upper ends of standards 9. This jaw 11 is the fixed or stationary jaw of the clamp. A similarly constructed jaw 13 is the movable jaw and is mounted on standards 14 in a manner similar to the mounting of jaw 11 on standards 9. The lower ends of the standards 14: are bifurcated so as straddle the base bars 5 and pins 15 pass through the base bars and through the bifurcated ends of the standards 14 thus pivoting the standards on the bars 5 in order that the movable jaw 13 may be swung toward or away from the fixed or stationary aw 11. The saw' blade is adapted to be placed between the two jaws 11 and18 and set screws or the like 17 are threaded through the post 6 so as to :en-
gage the standards 14: and thus by screwing inwardly upon the set screw the movablejaw may be forced toward the fixed jaw thus efficiently clamping a saw blade between the two jaws. V
A pair of hook members 18 consist of elongated shanks having the hook extensions 19 at one end and elongated loops 20 at their other ends. These elongated loops 20 are engaged by screws 21 adapted to be embedded in standards 9 adjacent the bars 5.

By providing a plurality of the apertures it will be seen that different sized blades may be accommodated. The hook extension may be placed in the various openings by adjusting the engagement of the loops 20 with the screws 21.
While the preferred embodiments of my invention have been described in detail, it will be understood that I do not wish to be limited to the particular construction set forth, since various changes in the form, ID a terial, proportions, and arrangement of The open-.
parts, and in the details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as herein after claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages. 7
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. A device of the class described including in combination a pair of base bars, standards fixed to the base bars, second standards pivoted to the base bars, aws provided on the standards, posts fixed to the bars and means associated with the posts for forcing the pivoted standards toward the fixed standards so as to bring the jaws toward each other to clamp a saw blade therebetween. v
2. A device of the class described including in combination a pair of. spaced parallel base bars terminating at one end in apertured lips, posts extending at right-angles from the other ends of the bars, standards fixed to an intermediate portion on the bars extending substantially parallel with the post, extensions formed intermediately of the standards and disposed over the apertured lips, set-screws extending through the apertured lips so that their ends are associatedwith the extensions on the standards for, supporting the device on a table or the like jaw member fixed to the ends of the standards, a movable'jaw member associated j with the first aw member, said jawmember provided with registering apertures, standards supporting the movable jaw member and terminating in bifurcations straddling the'barand pivoted thereto, said screws passing through the post engageable with the second-mentioned standards whereby the stationary or first-mentioned j aw, and a pair of hooked members including elongated shanks terminating at one end in hook ex tensions and embeddable in the firstmenmovable jaw may be clamped against the V tioned standards whereby the hook extensions may be adjusted so as to place the extensions thereof in the desired apertures of the jaw members all in the manner and for the purpose specified; I
8. A saw clamp including a pair of base bars, upright posts fixed to the ends of the base bars standards fixed adjacent the opposite ends of the base bars, standards pivoted to the base bars intermediate the fixed standards and posts, jaws provided on the standards, and means associated with the posts for forcing the pivoted standards toward the fixed standards to clamp a saw blade therebetween.
4. A saw clamp including a plurality of b-asebars, fixed upright standards secured adjacent one end of each base bar, upright posts secured to theopposite end of each base bar, pivoted standards mounted on the base bars between the'fixed standards and posts, jaws secured to the upper ends of the standards, threaded members mounted in the posts adapted to force the pivoted standards toward the fixed standards and clamp a saw blade between the aws, and means for securing the device on a sup-port.
5. A saw clamp comprising in combination, basevmembers, fixed standards on the base members,a aw secured to the fixed standards, pivoted standards, a jaw secured to the pivoted standards, posts on the base bar's means mounted on the posts for regulating the position of the, pivoted standards and jaws, and hook members adjustably pivoted to the fixed standards engageable withapertures formed in the jaws for supporting one end of the saw bladei In testimony. whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
