Description

N. l. FLEISCHER June 23, 1925.
DISPLAY RACK Filed Sept. 2, 1922 ,4 rraewzk Patented June 23, 1925.
UNITED-STATES NATHAN I. FLEISCHER, F CINCINNATI, OHIO.
DISPLAY RACK.
Application filed September 2, 1922. Serial No. 385,892.
To all whom it may concem:
Be it known that I, NATHAN I. Fmzrscmzn,
a citizen of the United States, and resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display Racks, of which the following is a full, clear,
and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
The present invention relates to display racks, and has particular reference to the provision of a display rack suitable for ribbon in bolts and similar articles of merchandise.
The principal object of this invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive display rack for the purpose of displaying ribbon in bolts and similar articles upon a counter or showcase, and from which the merchandise may be conveniently served to a customer.
A further object of this invention is to provide a rack of the character mentioned which is collapsible and may thus be folded into a compact form suitable for convenient shipment with ribbons or other articles of merchandise with which the same is to be used for display purposes,
Further objects of this invention will appear from the following detailed description thereof,
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective of my new display rack set up for use, the same being empty however;
Figure 2 is an end elevation of the rack v with merchandise contained therein on reels;
Figure 3 is a side elevation of the device as shown in Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a perspective of the rack folded for shipment.
The device consists of a blank, formed preferably of cardboard or other semi-rigid material, the same being scored along lines 1 and 2 to form a bottom or base section 3 and side sections 4 and 5. The side sections 4 and 5 are scored along lines 6 so as to form end flanges 7, which are adapted to abut against-each other and to be secured by re-inforced by fabric 11 if desired.
means of any suitable cli 8. The side sections have openings 9 an 10 which register on opposite sides of the rack. The hinges formed by the scored lines 1 and 2 may be When the rack constructed as above described is set up as shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3 of the drawings, ribbon or other similar merchandise on bolts or reels 12 may be placed therein, the bottom of the reels resting upon the base 3 of the rack and the sides extending outwardl through the openin 9 and 10; thus efl'iactively displaying t e merchandise contained. When ribbon or other similar merchandise is to be sold from the reel the operator need merely grasp the end of the desired article and withdraw a suitable length thereof from the reel, either the core 13 of the reel rotating if so constructed in the side disks thereof, or the entire reel rotating in the rack.
In Figure 4 I have shown the device fold ed, the sides collapsing upon the base as shown. In this condition the rack may be secured by means of the clip 8.
The rack as above described is also adapted to displaying articles which may be secured upon the sides thereof; said sides may be furthermore used for advertising or ornamental printed matter.
It will thus be seen that in the foregoing device I have provided a simple, inexpensive and compact display rack, which is well adapted for the displaying of ribbon and similar articles of merchandise, and which may be conveniently shipped to the dealer with such articles.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A display rack comprising base and side sections arranged to form a triangle, said side sections being provided with registering openings through which the sides of a roll of merchandise resting on said base may 95 extend so as to permit said roll to rotate in (siaid rack for the removal of said merchanise.
2. A collapsible display rack comprising base and side sections arranged to form a. 109
triangle, said side sections being providedwith registering 0 enings through which the sides of a roll 0 merchandise resting on said base may extend so as to permit said 5 roll to rotate in said rack for the removal extend, and means for securing the free ends of said merchandise. of said side sections together.
3. A display rack comprising a blank NATHAN I. FLEISCHER.
scored to form base and side sections, said side sections being provided with registerin openings through which the sides of a 1 r0 1 of merchandise resting on the base may
