Description

C. C. ROSE BARNES S Filed May 12, 1924 4 luveutoz Patented June 16, 192.5.

nnnniiiss.
To all whom. it may concern:
Be it knownthat CYRUS C. Ross, citizen of the United States, residing at Nalthill, in the county of Thurston and State of Nebraska, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Harness, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to harness and has special reference to an improved collar or hame construction for harness.
One important object of the invention is to improve the general construction of a device of this character,
A second important object of the invention is to provide an improved top strap attachment for such harness hames.
A third important object of the invention is to provide a novel arrangement of retaining slots and rings for such hames.
With the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the top part of one of a pair of hames constructed in accordance with this invention.
Figure Q is a front view or end view of a top strap retaining attachment.
Figure 3 is an enlarged detail section taken transversely through the hame.
Figure 4: is a view of the ring and a portion of the attachment shown in Figure 2 taken from the left side of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a view of a modification employed with this device.
In the construction of the present invention there is shown a top part 10 of one of a pair of hames and secured to the outer side of this top part is a bar or rib 11 set against the hame edgewa ys and provided on its outer edge with a series of slots each consisting of an outer portion 12 having parallel sides and an inner portion 13 of substantially circular form andof greater diameter than the width of the portion 12. At the top and bottom of the bar 11 suitable openings are also provided for the reception of rings let which may either be connected directly to the bar as shown in Figure 1 or maybe connected to the bar by means of a j i Application fiiea new; 1924. gar-am. 7121663.
clevis 15. The top strap of th hames is indicated at 17 and to the end of this strap is secured a ring 18 having at one point in its circumference a flattened portion 19 of such size as to pass through the neck portions 12 of the slots in the member 11 as can clearly be seen by reference to Figure 1. Also it will be noted by reference to Figure 3 that when in position the circular part of a slotted ring may rotate freely and if the flattened portion 19 be turned out of reg ister with the neck of the slot the ring is held from accidental disengagement.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and'construction of the invention without departing from the material spirit thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed.
Having thus described the what is claimed as new, is:
1. The combination with a hame member, of a wear plate extending over the top of said hame member and down the outer side thereof from the top downwardly, a rib member fixed to the portion of the wear plate extending down the outer side of the hame member and having harness rings at the top and bottom thereof, said ri-b member being provided intermediate the harness rings said series of slots extending in wardly from the outer side from the rib member and each having a narrow neck and an enlarged inner portion, and a ring surrounding the hame member in normal position and having a flattened portion at one point in its circumference, said flattened portion being movable in and out of the narrow necks of said slots and the remaininvention,
der of the ring fitting closely in the enthe top and bottom thereof, said rib member being provided intermediate the herness rings said series of slots extending inwardly from the outer side from the rib member and each having a narrowneck and an enlarged inner portion, and a ring surrounding the hame member in normal position and having a flattened portion at one point in its circumference, said flattened portion being morable in and out of. the narrow necks of said slots and the remainder of the ring fitting closely in the enlarged portion of said slots, being of such dimensions as to be confined between the upper and lower harness rings.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signnture.
CYRUS C. ROSE.
