Be it known that I, FRANK J. Kos'rnN- nAUnnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brackets, of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to provide improved brackets, which may be utilized for various purposes, but which are particularly adapted for removably supporting wash-basins and the like, either in con'ibination, or without,- so'ap receptacles.

Another object isto provide a device of this character which is especially serviceable for use in homes where there is no pedestal or fixed wall type of basin, but where a bath-tub of any well-known type is present and is provided with the usual laterally eX- tending over-hanging marginal flange, capable of supporting the ordinary forms of wash-basins.

A further object is to provide an improved type of bracket, which can be removed from its normally operative position when not desired for use, and can be removed to a less obstructive position against the wall of the room, where it may be caught and suspended by means of a suitable hook of any desired sort.

Arnd a still further object is to provide a bracket of this character, which can be made relatively inexpensive and can be finished according to ones preference, as for instance by enamelling or by electro-plating it, and to form the device in such manner that while constructed of comparatively light-weight material, it will be found to be sutiiciently well braced laterally, to withstand the usual transverse strains to which such an article is frequently subjected.

lVith these and other objects in view, the present invention comprises further novel details of construction and operation hereinafter fully brought out in the following description, when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which Fig. l is a top plan view of the preferred form of the device; Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.

Referring to Figs. l and 2 of the drawings, a wire, rod, or tube, of suit-able size and material, is bent to form a loop l in which can be removably placed a wash-basin 2, or other receptacle, as may be desired. The ends of said loop are brought quite near together and are thence directedI downwardly to form substantially parallel portions 3,- whic'h may of themselves remain either straight, or may be provided respectively with semi-circular, laterally extending', practically parallel loops 4t for a purpose hereinafter described.

Con'tinl'iing downwardly the vertical portions 3 are curved upwardly to form sections 5, which preferably diverge for a later described purpose and entend at an angle corresponding with that assumed by the side walls G of the average bath-tub, o'r similar supporting object, which is in turn provided with an oveihanging marginal i flange 7. The upper portions of thev sections 5 may be provided with semi-circular loops` 8; extending practically parallel and towards tliecorresponding loops ,fthough in the absence of said first-named loops i the last-named loops 8 would likewise be omitted.

The rod or tubular member above the height of the said loops is curved outwardly to form supporting sections 9, to conform with the shape of the upper surface of the said flange 7 with which it directly contacts, beyond which the end portions of said member are bent abruptly inwardly to form hooks 1G, operative to removably engage the edges of the flanges 7 and to prevent the accidental displacement of the improved bracket from the bath-tub or other support, while in normally operative position. y

As shown in the drawings, when the loops l and 8 are present, a second wire or tubular member may be employed. This second member preferably comprises parallel secI tions ll and l2, which pass respectively through the said semi-circular loops 4 and S vand at their ends said sections are curved reverse-ly inwardly at 13 to partially surround said loops. Each of the laterally opposite sides of this member between the curved portions 13 is curved transversely outwardly, to form segments 14E of a circle' connecting the sections 3 and 5 alone support the basin 2 and its contents. Furthermore, from the diverging arrangement of the sections 5, 9 and 10, the improved bracket is materially braced against otherwise permitting al certain amount of lateral movement of the freely extending looped portion l.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. VA bracket, comprising a loop adapted to receive and surround the major portion of a receptacle, the ends of said loop being directed downwardly and thence curved rel versely upwardly to form substantially parallel U-shaped portions, and the ends of said portions being thence curved outwardly away from said loop and reversely to form hooks adapted to engage a supporting member to support said bracket, the opposite sides of each of said U-shaped portions being provided with substantially semi-circular loops, and a frame member extending through said last-named loops, and operative to prevent the bending of the U-shaped portions, thereby increasing the relative rigidity of the bracket loop and hooks, said frame member being operative to receive and support a second receptacle.y

2. A bracket comprising a loop adapted to receive and surround the major portion ot' a receptacle, the ends of said loop being directed downwardly and thence curved reversely upwardly to form substantially parallel U-shaped portions, and the ends of said portions being thence Vcurved outwardly away from said loop and reversely to form hooks adapted to engage a supporting momber to support said bracket, the opposite sides of said U-shaped portions being pro-- vided with substantially semi-circular aligned loops, in combination with a frame member comprising oppositely curved portions connected by intermediate oppositely positioned looped portions which directly extend through and connecttheloops in thev U-shaped portions of said looped member, and said member being adapted to receive and support a second receptacle and to increase the rigidity of said bracket.
