Be it known that I, HORACE T. THOMAS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lansing, county of Ingham, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Automobile Curtains, and declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, such as will enable Others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this speciicat-ion.
My invention relates to curtains for automobiles and the method of constructing the same.
In the accompanying drawings,-
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a part of an automobile showing the curtains adjusted thereto embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is a detail section to an enlarged scale on the line IIII, Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section to an enlarged scale and partly broken away, on the line III-IIL Fig. 1.
Fig. t is a detail section Of the upper edge of the curtain as it is constructed preparatory to assembling the parts, forming the attaching means therefor.
Fig. 5 is a section of the strengthening piece for the upper edge of the curtain.
Fig. 6 is a section of the upper edge of the curtain as assembled and ready for adjustment to place.
Fig. 7 is a detail elevation partly broken away illustrating the construction of the parts and the method of adjusting the curtain in position.

What I claim is:
1. The combination of a vehicle top having a side rail, a strip of flexible sheet material having a welt along one of its edges, said strip being secured to said rail so as to position said welt along the lower edge thereof, and a curtain having a trough-like construction at its top adapted to engage over said welt, and slide along the same for the purpose described.
2. The combination of a vehicle top having a side rail, a strip of flexible sheet-material having a welt along one of its edges, said strip being secured to said rail so as to pO- sition said welt along the lower edge thereof, and a curtain having a trough-like construction at its top adapted to engage over said welt and slide along the same for the purpose described, said construction consisting of a strip of rigid material extending along the curtain top.
3. The combination with an automobile top, of a flexible valance depending from the edge of said top and having a welt along its lower edge, a curtain adapted to engage and slide along said welt, a door, a curtain carried above said door, the last named a trough-like strip of rigid material at its curtain being adapted to engage against upper edge, the material of said curtain said Welt to form a tight joint. coyerng said strip, said strip so covered 10 4.
